Wu Zetian had adopted the method of countermeasures before claiming the title of emperor, holding a subject examination and personally inspecting the candidates, and Zhang Shuwencai surprised everyone in this examination, and was rated as the first in the world of policy, but because there was no precedent for the First Branch, he had to yield to the second class and was awarded the position of Prince School Scribe.
Later, Wu Zetian prepared to compile a large-scale poetry book "Three Teachings of Zhuying", and many bachelors participated in the revision of this book, and the one who contributed the most was Zhang Shu, but after a thousand years, it has almost all been lost, and only from the fragments of the literature can we know that such a poetry anthology once existed.
Soon after, Zhang said that because he refused to go along with the same stream, he offended Wu Zetian's male favorite Er Zhang, so he was framed by Er Zhang's resentful rumors in his heart, and Wu Zetian exiled him to Lingnan. It was not until after the Shenlong coup that Zhang Shu was recalled, and when Li Longji eliminated Wei Hou, Zhang Shu also made outstanding contributions to it.
Afterwards, Li Dan succeeded to the throne as Emperor Ruizong of Tang, and Zhang said that he was promoted to Zhongshu Shilang (中書侍郎) because of his merits, and was promoted to chancellor the following year, but it was not long before he was framed and degraded by his design because of his disagreement with Princess Taiping. It was not until Li Longji succeeded to the throne and removed Princess Taiping that Zhang Shu was reinstated and worshipped as Zhongshu Ling.
However, there had always been discord between Zhang Andi and Yao Chong, and when Tang Xuanzong decided to choose Yao Chong, Zhang Said instructed others to impeach Yao Chong, but at this time Tang Xuanzong had already made up his mind, and Yao Chong still returned to the capital as a minister. At this time, Zhang said that he was a little flustered, and secretly met with Li Fan, the king of Qi, but he did not expect to be denounced by Yao Chong, and Zhang said that he was demoted to the history of YueZhou.

Although Zhang said that he had made mistakes and was degraded, Tang Xuanzong did not forget his outstanding ability, so he changed his position to the general of Dong Yulin, responsible for sitting on the tang border and resisting foreign invasions, and made several meritorious contributions, Tang Xuanzong promoted him to shuofang jiedushi, and later summoned him back to the capital as Zhongshu Ling.
Before Taishan sealed Zen, Zhang said that he had returned to the phase again, but Zhang said that although he was super intelligent, no one was perfect, and there were inevitably some flaws. Most of the officials who went to Mount Taishan with Tang Xuanzong during the sealing of Zen were zhang shu's close associates, because according to the custom, all officials would be promoted to a higher level after sealing Zen.
However, Zhang said that he used his own power and even let some of his cronies elevate the four classes in an extraordinary way, which was met with the dissatisfaction of many people inside and outside the government and the public, and they all accused Zhang of dictatorship. And Yuwen Rong, who was at odds with Zhang Shuo, also aimed at the opportunity to impeach Zhang Shuo with everyone at this time.
Zhang said that both Yuwen Rong and Yuwen Rong were important public officials in the DPRK and had made many outstanding contributions to the people of the country during the Kaiyuan period, and Tang Xuanzong had high hopes for both of them. Moreover, Zhang said that he was more like a teacher to Tang Xuanzong, and Tang Xuanzong naturally did not want to see a conflict between the two.
But the contradiction between Yu Wenrong and Zhang Shuo still happened, which is actually an unavoidable thing, just like the former prime ministers Yao Chong and Zhang Shuo. During the Xuanzong period, the dynasty could actually be divided into two factions, one was the literary school headed by Zhang Shu, and the other was the official school headed by Yao Chong.

During the Kaiyuan period, the hundred officials were secretly divided into two factions, although they themselves may not know it, but this conflict must exist. Among them, the representatives of the official zhi faction were Yao Chong, Di Renjie, Yu Wenrong, etc., while the representatives of the literary faction were Zhang Shu, He Zhizhang, Zhang Jiuling, and so on.
Because of their different political views, they both look down on each other, and one faction pays attention to the ability of officials and is good at solving practical problems, for example, only Yao Chong, alone, can solve the locust plague problem in Shandong. The other faction pays more attention to personal style, if you don't write well, then they look down on you and target exclusion everywhere.
The unchangeable truth of the dynasties is that the party is the same, and after sealing the Zen ceremony, Yu Wenrong took advantage of the dissatisfaction of the hundred officials with Zhang Shu and drew up a number of crimes such as corruption and bribery, favoritism and fraud to take the lead in attacking. Tang Xuanzong could not ignore the impeachment of the officials, but could only arrest Zhang Shu for interrogation.
Zhang said that in the face of a mountain of ironclad evidence, he had to bow his head and confess his guilt, and was immediately sent to prison, while Tang Xuanzong remembered that Zhang Said had once been his teacher and had made many great achievements, so he decided to give up his life lightly and only dismissed Zhang Shu as a Zhongshu Ling.
Although Zhang Xuanzong was removed from his position, Tang Xuanzong still respected him as always, plus Zhang said that he also had the ability to make people respect, but whenever the country encountered military and political events, Tang Xuanzong would send emissaries to ask for his opinion, but these actions were considered by Yu Wenrong to be a sign of Zhang Shuo's comeback.
Therefore, Yu Wenrong and others often attacked Zhang Shuo in front of Tang Xuanzong, and Xuanzong must have been aware of the fact that the dpron was divided into two factions, and this kind of partisan dispute had always been hated by the emperor, so while forcing Zhang To say goodbye to his hometown, Yu Wenrong and others were also spared from being degraded and expelled from the capital.
However, in the following year, Zhang Shu was reinstated by Emperor Xuanzong of Tang and appointed as the Right Minister of Shangshu, on the one hand, trust, on the other hand, Zhang Shuo's ability, after Zhang Shuo's revision of the "Commentary on the Guring Ceremony" was completed, because of his merit, he was awarded the kaifu Yi Tongsan Division, which means that it is the same status treatment as the three dukes.
Zhang said that after his illness, Tang Xuanzong sent people to visit and treat his illness every day, but Zhang said that he eventually died of illness, and Tang Xuanzong personally wrote a Shinto inscription for him and posthumously awarded him the title of Taishi.
