author:Beijing Context Culture Media

Chinese characters have a history of 5,000 years, but the early writing is no longer available, and the earliest recorded text is the oracle bone (referred to as the oracle) excavated from the Yin Ruins of the Shang Dynasty. The so-called oracle bone is the text engraved or written on the turtle shell and cow bone. These words are more than three thousand years old. In addition, many Bronze Artifacts from the Shang and Zhou Dynasties have been excavated underground, and there are many inscriptions cast on them, called Zhong Ding Wen (referred to as Jin Wen). These two scripts, because they are the earliest scripts that can be seen today, are also called "ancient texts".

King Taishi of Zhou Xuan once made a script (also known as the Great Seal), and part of the script can be seen in the interpretation of the text. After Qin Shi Huang unified the world, Li Si played the same script, so the small seal passed, saying that the book of wen jiezi was based on the explanation of the small seal. After the Han Dynasty, the writing gradually became more and more common, and the Lishu became the common script of the Han Dynasty. After the Wei and Jin Dynasties, the font became a letter of letters, which was easy to write, and maintained considerable stability after passing, and has been used to this day. At the same time as the passage of calligraphy, for the convenience of writing, there are also calligraphy and cursive writing, which are variations of calligraphy.

----------------- Cangjie character -----------------

The Huainan zi BenJingxun says: "In the past, Cangjie wrote books and the sky rained and millet, and the ghosts cried at night. "To the effect that in the past, when Cangjie made writing, grain fell from the sky, and ghosts cried in the night. Ancient texts such as Xunzi and Han Feizi also have records of Cangjie characters. In the Qin and Han dynasties, this legend spread more widely and had a deeper impact.

Historians in the past have examined whether Cangjie actually had its own people, and if so, at about what era, it is difficult to draw conclusions due to the lack of conclusive historical materials.

Some speculate that Cangjie was a historical official of the Yellow Emperor. The Xunzi Xie Shu (荀子• Xie Shu Shu Some people explain that the "one" here refers to the right path, that is, the correct law. Xunzi believes that Cangjie is an expert who has sorted out the writing by touching its laws because of its concentrated use. Therefore, it is generally believed that he played a unique role in the transition of Chinese characters from primitive characters to more standardized characters. It can be inferred from this that such a person must exist in the late stage of the origin of Chinese characters.

But the saying that "Cangjie made characters" is only a legend. Because writing is definitely not something that Cangjie alone can create, but when social culture develops to a certain stage and it is necessary to have a written record, people observe natural things in the process of collective production and labor, and create it according to the content of the ideas to be expressed. Chinese characters are a huge and rich system, and they cannot be created successfully without a long time.
