Lin Yishi's household registration in Kaohsiung was originally supposed to be enforced by the Kaohsiung District Prosecutor's Office, but because his wife Peng Aijia lived in Taipei, Lin Yishi expressed to the prosecutor that he hoped to serve his sentence north to facilitate his wife's visit to prison, so he was sent to prison by the Taipei District Prosecutor's Office.
It is understood that Lin Yishi served as a "legislator" and the executive director of the Kuomintang Policy Committee in 2010, assisting Chen Qixiang, the head of Diyong Company, to obtain a contract, and later received 63 million yuan. After Lin Yishi left the "legislator", he called Chen Qixiang and asked Chen Qixiang to pay another 83 million yuan to talk about renewing the contract, Chen Qixiang refused and broke the news to the media, and the prosecutor charged Lin Yishi for embezzlement and so on.
The first instance held that Lin Yishi's conduct did not constitute a crime of embezzlement and money laundering, and had nothing to do with the "legislator" position, and was sentenced to 7 years and 4 months in prison; the second-instance trial held that Lin Yishi's bribery behavior was closely related to the "legislator" position, and the sentence was changed to 13 years and 6 months in prison.
After appeal, the "Supreme Court" of Taiwan made a judgment on September 28 this year, on the crime of unknown origin of property, agreed with the views of the second-instance trial, upheld Lin Yishi's sentence of 2 years in prison, stripped of public power for 2 years, and fined 15.8 million yuan; Lin Yishi's wife Peng Aijia, uncle Shen Huanzhang and Shen Huanyao were charged with money laundering and found innocent; in addition, Lin Yishi's mother, Shen Ruolan, burned 950,000 US dollars on the balcony of her residence, and tied 12 million NT dollar bills with bricks and hid them in a pool, and was sentenced to 5 months in prison.
