Liangping District is a district under the jurisdiction of Chongqing Municipality, located in the northeast of Chongqing,[1] with a total area of 1,892 square kilometers. [68] It has jurisdiction over 33 townships (5 streets, 26 towns, and 2 townships)[3][4], and is a typical demonstration area for national ecological protection and construction, a national rural industrial integration development demonstration area, and a national power semiconductor packaging and testing high-tech industrialization base[1][2]. Liang Pingshi was called Liangshan, also known as Duliang, and was established as a county in the second year of the Western Wei Dynasty (553 AD), renamed LiangPing in 1952 with the meaning of "Gaoliang Mountain Foothills Ping Domain Yuan",[1] and withdrawn from the county in November 2016.[6] Liangping District has five national intangible cultural heritage projects, such as Liangshan Lantern Play, Liangping Woodblock New Year Painting, Liangping Leper Gong and Drum, Liangping Bamboo Curtain, and Liangping Lifting Child Tune, and 15 items on the municipal protection list, which are the hometown of Chinese folk culture and art;[7] there are natural and cultural landscapes such as Shuangguitang and Baili Bamboo Sea. Liangping District is the hometown of China's famous grapefruit and the hometown of China's Shouzhu. [8] It has the largest natural bamboo sea in the southwest region, the Baili Bamboo Sea, Liangping grapefruit, which is "one of the three famous grapefruits in the country", and Liangping sweet tea, which is known as the "treasure of tea". [9] In October 2017, it was named a national garden county by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. History

In the Western Zhou And Spring and Autumn Periods, Liang Pingdi belonged to the Yong State. During the Warring States period, it belonged to Baguo and Ba County.

Qin and Western Han Dynasties belonged to Ba Commandery (朐䏰县) (治今云陽). In the third year of the Western Han Dynasty (8 AD), the county belonged to Linjiang County (present-day Zhong County), Ba County. At the beginning of the Eastern Han Dynasty, it belonged to Yizhou Ba County. In the first year of Xingping (194), Liu Zhang's three divisions of Ba County, the county belonged to Guling County (治鱼復今奉節). In the sixth year of Jian'an (201), Guling County was changed to Badong County, and the county belonged to Badong County until the Jin Dynasty.

In February of the second year of the Republic of China, Daotong County was established as Daotong County, and Liangshan County was subordinated to Chuandong Province. In the fifth year of the Republic of China, Liangshan County became a defense area for the First and Second Armies of the Sichuan Army and the 20th and 21st Armies of the Nationalist Government Army. In the eighteenth year of the Republic of China, it was directly subordinate to the Sichuan Provincial Government. On March 1, 2004, the Sichuan government was unified, and Liangshan County was subordinated to the Tenth Administrative Supervision District and listed as a first-class county. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Liangshan County was subordinated to the Dazhu Special District of the Eastern Sichuan People's Administrative Office. On December 3, 1952, because the name of the county was the same as Liangshan County in Shandong Province, it was renamed Liangping County because there was a Pingba in the territory. On March 10, 1953, Dazhu Prefecture was abolished, and Liangping County was transferred to the jurisdiction of Wanxian Prefecture (Region) until June 1997.

In June 1997 (1), Chongqing Municipality was established as a municipality directly under the Central Government, and the former Chongqing Municipality of Sichuan Province was abolished. On November 24, 2016, the State Council officially issued the Reply of the State Council on Agreeing to the Adjustment of Some Administrative Divisions of Chongqing Municipality: it agreed to abolish Liangping County and establish Liangping District. [6]
