A Tang Dynasty poet caught in the "plagiarism gate"

When everyone talks about "plagiarism" and "plagiarism", they will scoff at it and disdain it very much. In today's world where information transmission is so convenient and the scope of document sharing is getting wider and wider, it is even more difficult to copy other people's works without being discovered. However, there are still many people who have taken risks, including young doctors who have not entered the workplace, but there is also no shortage of scholars who have emerged in academia. These people may begin to taste a little sweetness, but in the end they all end up in a disgraceful and harmful to others and themselves. Of course, plagiarism is not a product of modern civilization, it can be regarded as a common disease since ancient times. During the Tang Empire, there were poets who were caught in the "plagiarism gate".

Quan Tang Poems (Qing Kangxi Inscribed) book shadow

Plagiarism is not a question of Song Zhi who harms people's lives

"The flowers are similar from year to year, and the years are different", i think many people have read this famous poem, which comes from a Lefu poem called Liu Xiyi, "Generation of Sorrows and White Heads". However, everyone may not know that there are many untold stories behind this poem, and Liu Xiyi lost his life because of these two poems.

It is said that this Liu Gongzi thought of these two good poems and could not wait to show them to his uncle Song Zhi. Song Zhi asked who was also? He was also a poet in the early Tang Dynasty, and his fame was not small, on a par with Shen Qi,who was known as "Shen Song", but his character was inferior.

Song Zhi asked to see these two poems, but also very liked, knowing that Liu Xiyi had not yet shown them to others, he actually moved his crooked thoughts, brazenly asked for them from his nephew, and wanted to rely on these two poems to pass on through the ages. Song Zhiqing was an elder, and he was both soft and hard, and Liu Xiyi could not erase his face, so he had to verbally agree. But soon he regretted it and wanted to return his poem. Song Zhiqing was furious and blamed his nephew for deceiving himself, so he sent someone to crush Liu Xiyi to death with a bag full of soil. Liu Xiyi is a talented person, funny and humorous, and can drink and play the pipa, which can be regarded as a talent.

If he had a long life, he might still be able to show his ambitions in the poetry circle of the Tang Dynasty and leave more good poems, but unfortunately he was killed by his uncle before he was thirty years old. At that time, people were very sympathetic to him, lamenting that the talent was short-lived, and blamed Song Zhiqing for killing each other, Liu Yuxi even said: "If Song Zhiqing is not punished, God will not let him go!" It is said that Song Zhiqing, who blindly flattered Wu Zetian, finally ended up in exile and death.

In the past, the same window, the court

The "Chao Ye You Zai" records such a story, saying that during the Tang Dynasty, a Guozi Jinshi named Xin Hongzhi wrote a poem: "The king is a riverside grass, and the heart is left in the spring." Concubines are like a mirror, and they have to be clear from beginning to end. Probably Xin Hongzhi felt good and showed it to his classmate Chang Dingzong. Chang Dingzong pondered for a while and helped him change the word "beginning" to the word "turn". A word difference, the original poem suddenly added a lot of color.

However, the two were not happy for long, and they quarreled over the copyright of the poem. Chang Dingzong said: "This 'turn' word is very important, although it cannot be said to have the effect of turning decay into magic, it also makes this ordinary poem immediately add a lot of color, so this poem should be counted as mine." Hearing this, Xin Hongzhi, who had a hard time composing the original poem, naturally did not do it, and immediately argued: "The poem was written by me, how did it become yours?" The two men argued endlessly, quarreling endlessly, and the others could not persuade them, so they went to the government office to fight a lawsuit.

Dr. Guozi Luo Weizong listened to the ins and outs of the matter, and then made a ruling: "In the past, the five characters were fixed, and it was surprising to be reasonable; now it is a poem that competes for poetry, and most of the words are mainly taken." The poem returns to Hongzhi, and the 'turn' is also determined. Let it be known, let it be a public test. What does this verdict mean?

There is also an allusion to the Bell Society. During the Three Kingdoms Wei Dynasty, Yu Song served as the Zhongshu Ling in charge of confidential documents. One day, the great general Sima Shi, who controlled the real power of the State of Wei, ordered Yu Song to make a statement. Yu Song repeatedly revised it many times, but Sima Shi was not satisfied and ordered him to change it again. Yu Song racked his brains and couldn't think of how to change it. His heart was troubled, and he didn't think about it. When Zhong saw his frowning expression, he asked him what was going on, and Yu Song told him honestly. The enthusiastic Zhong Hui took the watch written by Yu Song and changed five words for him. Yu Song also felt that the change was wonderful, and he was grateful and admired by Zhong Hui, and excitedly presented it to the great general. Sima Shi looked at it, smiled and said, "This is not something you can think of, so tell who changed it!" "Zhong hui will solve the urgent needs of his colleagues, but he does not take credit, and it is a good story for a while."

Guozi's doctor Luo Weizong wanted to use this allusion to educate Chang Dingzong, and sentenced the poem to Xin Hongzhi and returned the word "turn" to Chang Dingzong. However, although this public case was closed, the friendship between the two people was ended by one word, which was also sad.

Although there were books in China as early as the Time of the Xia, Shang, and Western Zhou Dynasties, they were all controlled by the government, and in the concept of the people at that time, the saints wrote books in order to establish a system of canons and rules, to stabilize the world, and they did not care who wrote them or not. In the Warring States period, with the private works of the Hundred Sons and Hundreds of Families, in order to publicize their own doctrines, each sect signed the name of itself or the ancestor of this sect on the book, until the Qin and Han Dynasties, people's concept of copyright was not strong, of course, there was no such thing as plagiarism. However, with the progress of society, for the sake of their own reputation and even economic interests, people pay more and more attention to their own works, and everyone often scorns plagiarism. In today's society, plagiarism of other people's works is not only a manifestation of moral corruption, but also deserves to be punished by law.
