The signing army is actually a cannon fodder army, and when the city is attacked after the war, the Mongol army will let the signing army walk in front, first bear the enemy's cannon stone arrow rain, and then the Mongol army will step on the corpse of the signatory army and rush forward.
Although the signing army could not escape a dead word in the end, if you did not agree, the Mongols would immediately slaughter the city!
Genghis Khan's slaughter of the city was not a complete extermination of the whole city, he had a precise set of liquidation formulas, according to which he carried out a strict liquidation of the people in the city.
1. All those who participate in resistance shall be put to death.
Soldiers who resisted but eventually surrendered, as well as other civilian men, could be incorporated into the Mongol Army as a signatory force as a forward force in the attack on the next city.
(3) The wives and daughters of the princes and nobles shall be given to Genghis Khan, as well as to his sons, royal relatives, ministers and generals.
4. All children and the elderly of poor families shall be put to death.
5. Those of rich families who have truly repented may confiscate their property and avoid death.
All those who have escaped, or who have hidden in cellars or corners, shall be put to death if they are searched.
All craftsmen with craftsmanship, as well as those who have knowledge and learning, will remain and serve as servants of the Mongols, doing things for the Mongols; if they cannot be used up for a while, they will be escorted back to the Mongolian steppes.
However, when Genghis Khan carried out the first western expedition, attacked Huarazimo, and slaughtered the city, he was strongly opposed by a person, this person was Yelü Chucai.
Yelü Chucai was originally a nobleman of the Liao State. After the Liao kingdom was destroyed by the Jin kingdom, Yelü Chucai lived in seclusion and taught. Genghis Khan had already heard of his name, and when he attacked the capital of the Jin Dynasty, he specially sent someone to invite him to be a guest. On this western expedition, Yelü Chucai also went with him. Seeing that the Mongols had repeatedly brutally killed the innocent civilians of Khwarazm, he could not sit still and went to dissuade Genghis Khan. Someone told him that slaughtering the city was a daily act of the Mongols, and if you dissuade it, the Great Khan would be unhappy and might kill you! So Yelü Chucai went to see Genghis Khan and said to him, "Great Khan, the grass people ask the Great Khan not to kill so many civilians!" ”
Genghis Khan was really upset and said, "This is revenge!" How can it be said that the innocent are indiscriminately killed? ”
Yerushalayim said, "Great Khan, why do you say we are requisitioning Khwarazm?" Is it just for revenge? ”
Genghis Khan said, "Then you say, what are we for?" ”
Yelü Chucai and Genghis Khan had been together for a long time, and he deeply understood how to talk to Genghis Khan, how to speak in order to translate his ideas into Genghis Khan's will. He quickly replied, "The Great Khan was sent down by the Immortal Heavens to rule this world, and when we come to requisition Hua Lazimo, we want to take the land of Hua lazi mold into the territory of the Great Khan." "Well said!" Genghis Khan exclaimed.
Seeing that Genghis Khan was happy, Yelü Chucai took the opportunity to say: "Since the land here is the territory of the Great Khan, then the people here will also be the subjects of the Great Khan, and if the Great Khan kills all the people, then, leaving the Great Khan with a scorched earth, what will the Great Khan use it for?" ”
Genghis Khan smiled and said, "Plant grass on it, let our Mongolian cattle and sheep run all over the ground, and eat wherever they want." ”

Genghis Khan said, "But these Khwarazm people, they are as stupid and treacherous as their sultans, and if we don't wash them thoroughly, as soon as we walk on our front feet, they will rise up on their back feet and rebel!" It's better to kill it and let the Mongols live here!" ”
Yelü Chucai said, "Great Khan, you have four sons, and so many little princes, as long as you give full play to their strengths and let them come here to guard and govern, who else dares to resist?" Moreover, as long as the Great Khan did not kill them and treated them well, how could they resist? The Great Khan can also send some management personnel here to take charge of the production here, collect taxes, and then the Material of the Great Khan will be inexhaustible! ”

Although Yelü Chucai did not curb Genghis Khan's slaughter of the city, it caused a great shock in his heart, and after that, he never slaughtered the city casually.
