Founded in 1935, CUHK Hospital has gone through important historical stages such as the Affiliated Hospital of the Central University School of Medicine, the Affiliated Hospital of the Fifth Military Medical University, the 84th Hospital of the People's Liberation Army and the Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Railway Medical College. Professor Cai Xilai graduated from the medical department of the former Central University School of Medicine in 1946, and stayed in the former Central University School of Medicine, the Fifth Military Medical University, the Sixth Military Medical School and the Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Railway Medical College. In the 1980s, when interventional radiology was just emerging, Professor Cai was keenly aware that this was a rare opportunity for the development of radiology, and actively guided young physicians to explore this new field. Even after the age of 80, he still cares about the construction of departments, the training of physicians and the development of disciplines. Eighty years of Shaohua silently dedicated himself to the cause he loved, and the kangzhuang avenue of medical imaging career is getting wider and wider. He is a pioneer who dares to be the first, and a true Bole who cherishes talents and loves talents.
Nowadays, the Department of Interventional Radiology of the Zhongda Hospital affiliated to Southeast University, where he has worked, has become a first-class discipline in China, and the student he trained, Professor Teng Gaojun, is currently the president of the Asia-Pacific Interventional Radiology Society, the leader of the interventional radiology team of the Chinese Radiology Society, and the executive vice president of the Radiologists Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association. These achievements are inextricably linked to his early pioneering and long-term care and support.
