After abandoning Yuan and surrendering to Cao Cao, in Cao Cao's camp, Zhu Ling's deeds are rarely seen in history books, especially in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms, Wei Shu XVII, Zhang Leyu Zhang Xu's biography of Zhang Xu is as follows: Linghou Sui was a good general, ming Ya Huang, etc., to the later general, and was given the title of Marquis of Tangting. Nineteen characters with four punctuation marks will forget Zhu Ling, whose fame is second only to Xu Huang, in the history of the Three Kingdoms of the Eastern Han Dynasty.

Although Zhu Ling, although during the Cao Cao period, despite his great military achievements, was not welcomed, in the end he was dismissed from military power and supervised by others; but in the Cao Pi era, although there were few battles, he was treated with great courtesy, worshiped the general, and was made the Marquis of Tang Ting. The end of Zhu Ling's life can also be regarded as a good ending. In particular, in the fourth year of the reign of Wei Zheng ( 243 ) , Zhu Ling and the deceased cao wei courtiers were enshrined in cao cao's temple court. The Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms, Book of Wei, and Chronicle of the Three Young Emperors records that in the autumn and July, The Late Sima Cao Zhen and Cao Xiu... The rear admiral Zhu Ling... In the Taizu Temple. No matter what contradiction Zhu Ling and Cao Cao once had, they resented each other; in the end, the two were in the same temple court, and it was also a comedy that was manipulated by Cao Cao's descendants after death into "a laugh and a vendetta".

Looking at the intersection of Zhu Ling and Cao Cao's three generations of grandchildren——

In the first stage, after Yuan Shao led Zhu Ling to yuan shao to assist Cao Cao in his conquest of Xuzhou, he voluntarily changed his court because he admired Cao Cao's personality, that is, abandoned Yuan Shao and defected to Cao Cao. This part of the text occupies 79 of the 113 words of Zhu Ling's biography in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, nearly 70 percent of the length. In particular, Zhu Ling made the feat of turning his back on Yuan Shao a few streets behind Cao Cao's forces, or even a dozen streets, which was the most far-sighted and wisest choice at that stage.

In the second stage, Cao Cao sent Zhu Ling to follow Cao Cao on his southern expedition and the western campaign. None of these conquest records are recorded in zhu Ling's biography in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, but they are summarized in nine words: "Later as a good general, the name Ya Huang, etc." Zhu Ling's relevant conquest records can only be found in a few chapters in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, such as the Chronicle of Emperor Wu, the Biography of Du Zhao Pei of Heyang, the Biography of Cao Of The Marquis of Zhuxia, and so on. From the summer of the fourth year of Chuping (193), When Zhu Ling served Cao Cao, to the first month of the twenty-fifth year of Jian'an (220), when Cao Cao died of illness in Luoyang, Zhu Ling served Cao Cao for nearly twenty-seven Spring and Autumn Periods. During this period, although Zhu Ling only had one resume of independently leading troops (Jian'an Ten Years (205) to defend Xunan), he had two experiences of being "hidden in the snow": the first time, between the end of the Battle of Guandu and the purging of Yuan's forces, for about eight years, Zhu Ling had no record of following Cao Cao in conquest; another time, after defeating the Road Blockers during the Western Expedition against Zhang Lu and cao Cao's death, there was no record of Zhu Ling appearing on the battlefield for about five years.

In the third stage, Cao Pi's vassal Zhu Ling assisted Cao Pi and worshiped the general and Honored The Ancestor. In the Cao Pi dynasty, although there is no record of Any conquests of Zhu Ling, it can be seen that Zhu Ling was knighted. The Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms records that Zhu Ling's official zhihou general and the title of Marquis of Gao Tangting. Zhu Ling, the general of Hou Hou and the Marquis of Tangting, was appointed in 220 years, which should be the time when Cao Pi was the throne of Wei after Cao Cao's death; the time when Cao Pi was enfeoffed, the Marquis of Ling, the addition of his household, and the title of Marquis of Gao Tang, should be the time when Cao Pi ascended the throne as empress. Ling and Juan are two of the seven cities under the jurisdiction of the Qinghe State.

In the fourth stage, Cao Rui will serve Cao Rui and appear on the battlefield of Eastern Wu. The last battle of Zhu Ling's career is also not recorded in zhu Ling's biography in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms, Book of Wei, Twenty-sixth, and The Biography of Mantian Guo records that the pet table was not reported, and Hugh went deeper. The thief broke the stone from the strong mouth and wanted to take a break to return the road. The truce was unfavorable and retreated. Zhu Ling and others later broke the road and met the thief. The thief was frightened away, and the hugh army had to return. In the autumn of the second year of Wei Taihe (228), when Wei was fighting Wu, Zhu Ling cut off the road on cao xiu's retreat and defeated the wu army's pursuers to protect Cao Xiu's thoughtfulness. This battle, from the relevant historical records, can be regarded as the last battle in Zhu Ling's martial arts career, and it is also the best song of his life.

Zhu Ling, through three generations of Cao Cao's ancestors and grandchildren, especially in Cao Cao's generation, had many twists and turns, twice being "hidden in the snow", once leading troops independently, and the rest of the combat records were all supervised by others. In view of Zhu Ling's resume, which is different from that of the five sons, in the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", he is still listed as a "good general, a famous Ya huang and so on".

Author's note: Dormancy, the original meaning refers to animals hibernation, hiding without eating and not moving; the meaning refers to people or things, events hidden and not showing their faces. Zhu Ling, as a general who can fight a good battle, in the case of not being trusted by Cao Cao and becoming a soy sauce, not only does not complain about the heavens, but also enjoys the fate of heaven, but instead Cao Pi and Cao Rui have died well. As the saying goes: gold always shines.
