Regarding the ancestor of the Jinshan Sect and the true man of Haiyue, Sun Xuanqing, the Laoshan Zhi compiled by Huang Zongchang in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties did not include it in the "Immortal Interpretation" of Volume V. According to common sense, Sun Xuanqing was enfeoffed by the Jiajing Emperor, founded the Longmen branch, and spread branches and leaves in Laoshan Mountain, with many disciples, and Huang Zongchang at the end of the Ming Dynasty could not have heard of it.

After entering the Qing Dynasty, the "Jimo County Chronicle" of the Kangxi and Qianlong periods was not included, and at that time, Sun Xuanqing's Jinshan Sect widely spread the Laoshan Palace Temple, with many disciples, and why the cultivators did not check, there were many suspicious points.

Considering the current information, the earliest detail of his life is the inscription carved on the left side of the Mingxia Cave in Laoshan Mountain. Later, there was "Shunzhi Shi Nian Autumn September Re-erection", that is, in 1653 Shangshi.

The legendary story of The Left Zan Sect of the Tianshifu And the Ancestor Sun Xuanqing of the Jinshan Sect who abandoned the Buddha to enter the Dao and offered the book jiajing was blinded as a monk, abandoning the Buddha and entering the Dao Yunyou to visit, the master cloak Zhang into the capital to offer books, the Jiajing edict to send the golden mountain, the branches and leaves

Mingxia Cave stone carvings

After the Shangqing Palace, there is also a stone carving of the "Sun Zhenren Xiuzhen Inscription", which is about 6 meters high and 5 meters long.

Stone carvings after the Shangqing Palace

Later, there is the "Kangxi Gengji Year Autumn Looking at the Sun On the Stone", that is, in 1670, it can be seen that the stone carvings of the Shangqing Palace are later than the Mingxia Cave, and the content has been reduced, and the difference is not small.

During the Xianfeng period, Liang Jiaowu's "Xuanmen Must Read", "Tongzhi Jimo County Chronicle", Guangxu Huang Zhaozhao's "Laoshan Continuation", the Republic of China's "Shouguang County Chronicle", and Zhou Zhiyuan's "Laoshan Zhi" all recorded Sun Xuanqing's life deeds. Synthesizing a variety of information, the following details the legendary life of Sun Xuanqing, the ancestor of the Jinshan Sect.

blind as monks and abandon Buddhism to enter the tao

Sun Xuanqing was born in the ninth year of Hongzhi (1496), a Shouguang person, and historical documents often record that he was blind at an early age and became a monk, and should not be in Laoshan at this time.

Crane Mountain meets Zhengong

According to legend, he heard the legend of Xu Fuyang, a Taoist priest of Heshan in the Yuan Dynasty, so he visited Laoshan in the east. However, his own "Sun Zhenren Ziyang Shu" states that he "practiced for more than fifty years" in Laoshan, and shuzhong said that "癸海年春", that is, in the forty-second year of Jiajing (1563), he also entered the Taoist Book, at this time he was 67 years old. However, the books say that when Jiajing entered the Dao, he was first at the age of twenty-eight, and until jiajing was forty-two years old, he practiced in Laoshan for forty years at most, which does not seem to be consistent with the age mentioned in Shuzhong. Of course, this is also contradictory to the nineteen-year-old in the "Xuanmen Must Read" who practiced in the Yellowstone Palace.

Both stone carvings were carved by Sun Zhimen's disciples, and the Xuanmen Must Read is also a textbook material, which may have deliberately erased his early experience as a monk in order to whitewash Sun's early entry into the Dao. Judging from the order of documents, whether it is the "Jimo County Chronicle", "Laoshan Continuation Zhi", or "Shouguang County Chronicle", "Laoshan Zhi", etc. are all later out of stone carvings and "Xuanmen Must Read", so the records of Sun Xuanqing's life in these materials do not come from the internal sources, and there may be other more reliable sources.

Sun Xuanqing entered The Laos in The Mingxia Cave in Jiajing and abandoned the Dao, practicing for more than 20 years, during which he also traveled to visit other gongguan high paths, first in the Laoshan Mingxia Cave to learn from Li Xiantuo, then in the Tiecha Mountain Yunguang Cave to get the guidance of Tongyuanzi, and then met Taihe Zhenren, that is, Xu Fuyang, who was led to the Huangshi Palace to practice for more than twenty years, and finally met the cloak Zhang Zhenren and suddenly penetrated, returning to the Mingxia Cave, Jiajing had become enlightened in twenty-one years.

Mingxia Cave

Neither Li Xiantuo nor Tong Yuanzi can be examined, and The Taihe Zhenren, the blind and re-enlightened Heshan Gaodao Xu Fuyang, according to the Shan Zhi as a Yuan Dynasty Daoist, should not have been able to see Sun Xuanqing, but the Taiqing Palace Chronicle records that he was a Ming Dynasty person, or there was another name Xu Fuyang's Gao Dao at the time.

In Laoshan Mingxia Cave ordination, the first worship of Li Xiantuo as a teacher, and then to the TiechaShan Yunguang Cave to meet the Tongyuanzi to guide the five elements, before and after the lifting, in and out of the Heavenly Gate, the method of planning, and then to Jimo County to meet Taihe Zhenren led to the Huangshi Palace to practice, when Fang was nineteen years old, Meng taught the Three Flowers Gathering Peak, the Five Qi Chaoyuan, in the Huangshi Palace for more than twenty years, after encountering the cloak Zhang Zhenren, talking about the cultivation of truth, secretly passing on the secret of internal medicine, once suddenly penetrated, returned to the Mingxia Cave to re-cultivate.

Huangshi Cave, Huangshi Palace, present-day Yuan

The more credible one is "Cloak Zhang", but the mountain chronicle and the county chronicle contain no one, but there are two records of The Ming Dynasty Zhang surname Gao Dao, one is that Huang Zongchang's "Laoshan Zhi" contains the Ming Dynasty Jiajing Shi Mo's "Records of the White Cloud Cave of the Giant Peak of Laoshan Mountain", which says: "The Daoist Zhang Moude Baiyun Cave, that is, it is different from the human realm, and it can rely on the stars by the sun and the moon, and the non-Xuanwu god is not enough to deserve it." 'It is in it that he serves Xuanwu, and sits by his side, learning the art of alchemy. ...... Staying in the cave at night, the assistant pen was inscribed on Shi Yue: "Those who live in baiyun cave, since Zhang Mou began." This Zhang surname Dao lived in Baiyun Cave, far away from Mingxia Cave, and his special reverence for Xuanwu was similar to Zhang Sanfeng's Wudang Sect, and may be a Daoist of the Wudang Sect.

The pouring white cloud cave

According to the "Tongzhi Jimo County Chronicle", "Zhang Daoren, who does not know who to say, whose surname is Zhang, who comes and goes to the Qing Palace on Laoshan Mountain, looks like a young man, and all the events he has experienced are more than a hundred years, people have not believed, one day to raise the Dongyue Temple, need thousands of limes, eagerly can not do it, Zhang Caizhi a certain wife, the housewife resigned from poverty, Zhang Yue, there are three thousand ashes next to the locust tree in front of the Ru family, the hair is sure, people ask, Zhang Yue, Qu Ancestors built the building, I see it, his family does not know." Everything can be known in advance, and many people are unwilling to say it. This Gao Dao lived mainly in the Taiqing Palace, and the county chronicle placed him after Zhang Sanfeng, and it is impossible to speculate whether he was a Daoist priest of jiajing. Of course, the above two Zhang surname Gao Dao, it is only possible that Sun Xuanqing and his master Cloak Zhang, there is no definite evidence that one of them is the Cloak Zhang.

The Laoshan Continuation Zhi says in the "Xuanzhen Cave" entry: "The ancestral Zhang Sanfeng cultivation of the true place." The cave forehead 'reconstruction Xuanzhen suck will swallow the mouth of the black rabbit' eleven characters, for the Sanfeng true pen. Sanfeng is also called Pengzhang. Judging from this record, the cloak Zhang may be Zhang Sanfeng. Combined with the Zhang Daoren who worshiped Xuanwu here, Laoshan did exist wudang daoists, and Sun Xuanqing's master "Cloak Zhang" was most likely a disciple of Zhang Sanfeng's Wudang Dao, and from this point of view, the Jinshan Sect was actually formed by the Wudang Sect, the Heshan Sect, and other influences on the Dragon Gate Sect.

into Beijing to dedicate books and Jiajing edicts

In his later years, Sun Xuanqing entered the capital to dedicate books, and recorded a total of three times into the DaoShu (the "Cultivation of Truth Inscriptions" merged the first and second times, only twice). According to the "Sun Zhenren Ziyang Shu", he entered the capital to live in the Baiyun Temple in the thirty-seventh year of Jiajing, first sat in the Bowl Hall for a year of retreat, and created eight six volumes of the Shumen Archives, and the "Cultivation of Truth Inscriptions" was recorded as "Nine Branches and Eighteen Volumes". Through the Cabinet Elder Zhai Luan and the Shaoqing Gong Zhongpei, he entered the Jiajing Emperor's Imperial Palace, so he was enfeoffed with the title of Protector of the Heavenly Master's Mansion Zuo Zan teaching Xuan Qing Zhenren, which was the first book presented by Jiajing in the thirty-eighth year (1559).

The Jiajing Emperor, who loved alchemy

In the autumn of the year of Jiajing (Jiajing Forty-one Years, 1562), Sun Xuanqing also took the secret of the Lingbao, the Pure True Jade Emperor, to hold the three medicinal products, ascend and descend, sit and plan, water and fire, just called the "Golden Liquid Great Return Dan Collection", through Gong Zhongpei into the imperial view, this is the second time to offer books.

In the spring of Jiajing (Jiajing 42nd year, 1563), he also recorded the Imperial Scriptures in twenty-six volumes of his beginnings and ends, Xuan'ao and Zhushu Danjiao, and the disciples of the first grandson, Zhiluan, through Gong Zhongpei, XiaoSheng, and Lantian, presented them to the Imperial Pavilion, which was the third time to offer books.

Judging from the content of the above inscription, his disciples mainly had two disciples, namely Sun Zhiluan and Hu Shi. This actually initially shows the characters of the Jinshan Sect, that is, "Xuan zhi supreme, Tianyuan Miaolisheng, physical floating and sitting, naturally true, always with a clear and quiet mind, and a combination of jindan, Daogao FusheJi, and the name of the ancient tradition." "The disciples of the Jinshan Sect have an orderly lineage in Laoshan according to this character.

Next to the stone carving of the "Sun Zhenren Ziyang Shu" in Mingxia Cave, there is a list of 20 people from the first to sixth generations of the Jinshan Sect.

The disciples of Mingxia Cave inscribed a stone carving

After the "Sun Zhenren Cultivation Inscription" after the Qing Palace, the boulder is also engraved with the names of the Daoist monks of the third to seventh generations of the Jinshan Sect.

The disciples of the Shangqing Palace inscribed stone inscriptions

Judging from the deeds of the first five generations of Laoshan Jinshan Daoists, the Jinshan Daoists have expanded from the abbot Mingxia Cave to the Shangqing Palace and the Great Temple of Jimo Damiao Mountain, showing a good development trend. Later generations of Jinshan Daoist monks continued to expand to Baiyun Cave.

After the establishment of the Jinshan School, after the development of Laoshan in the late Ming Dynasty, it began to spread outward in the early Qing Dynasty. From the existing data, there are at least two major routes from the north to the northeast and from the south to Guangdong. The current Tiezha Mountain in Northeast China, Qianshan Mountain, and Luofu Mountain in Guangdong all have the relics and disciples of the Jinshan Sect.

Nowadays, the Jinshan Sect has become an important branch of the Quanzhen Dragon Gate Sect, and there are Jinshan Sect disciples in Laoshan, Taishan, Northeast China and other places to inherit and promote this Sect.
