On the morning of July 25, Rongcheng held a launching ceremony for the enforcement of squid special fishing management at Haicheng Fishing Port in Shidao Management Area. After the ceremony, 100 special fishing vessels for squid set sail from Rendu Fishing Port, Haicheng Fishing Port, Chishan Fishing Port, Renhe Fishing Port and Shawo Island Fishing Port, and they will sail to the domestic coastal fishing area for 22 days of special squid fishing.

For many years, only a single species of jellyfish was specifically caught during the marine season fishing moratorium. With the gradual improvement of China's marine off-season fishing moratorium system and the improvement of fishery management capabilities, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has begun to gradually expand the scope of special fishing. In 2021, the special fishing license species during the holiday period are jellyfish, hairy shrimp, clove fish, mouth shrimp slug and squid.

Over the years, in order to solve the dilemma of the depletion of fishery resources, Rongcheng's fishery fishing has marched into the ocean and developed into special fishing operations. This time, the pilot implementation of Rongcheng squid special fishing is of great significance for promoting the protection and rational utilization of offshore fishery resources. At present, Rongcheng City has about 400,000-600,000 tons of squid ashore every year, accounting for more than 40% of the country; there are more than 70 existing squid processing enterprises, with an annual squid processing capacity of more than 400,000 tons, accounting for about 70% of the squid landing volume, accounting for about 50% of the country, with an output value of 9 billion yuan. Rongcheng has developed into an important ocean aquatic products distribution center in China and the largest squid deep processing base in China.
