China's "Father of Animation" Mark Xuan died and created "Three Monks"

Mark Xuan, a former director and animator of Shanghai Fine Arts Film Studio, died in Shanghai the day before yesterday (6th) due to illness at the age of 76.

Mark Xuan participated in the main animation works such as "Little Tadpole Finds Mother", "Landscape and Water", "Three Monks", "Tianshu Qitan", etc., and he also served as a professor at Peking University and a doctoral supervisor at the Communication University of China.

Originally from Chaoyang, Guangdong Province, Ma Xuan was born in Shanghai. In 1959, he entered the Shanghai Fine Arts Film Studio, and successively engaged in animation design, art design, directing and other work, and worked as an animation designer in animation films such as "Red Army Bridge", "One Night in the Gallery", "Nezha Noisy Sea", "Three Monks", and served as the art designer of "Tianshu Qitan" and other films. After 1986, Mark Xuan participated in the directing of many animation films, and his ink animation films "Landscape and Water", "Twelve Mosquitoes and Five People" have won many international awards.
