Simmons was suspended in his first game in Philadelphia, according to NBA GO50.CO who received treatment thursday for back strain.

Ben Simmons arrived thursday and left the Philadelphia 76ers' training base without attending the scheduled individual training session, GOGO Sports reported. Simmons was reportedly treated for back strain. Philadelphia deducted his salary before he reported to the gym, but injured players do get paid in full. Simmons has missed games in the past due to back problems. He is said to be expected to talk to the team about his future game status before Friday's shooting session, which the team still hopes Simmons will attend.
Simmons is reportedly not mentally prepared for the 76ers game. He will miss Friday's game against the Brooklyn Nets and is expected to remain absent for some time at an uncertain time. Simmons was suspended in Wednesday's opener win over the New Orleans Pelicans for refusing to attend defensive training.
"I think he was a distraction today," Rivers said of him after a timeout. "I don't think he wants to do what other people are doing. At the end of the day, as a coach, I had to protect the team. The team [is] the first, and then we do the other parts. So today, I think it's more important to focus on the team. "
The troubled three-time All-Star didn't play for most of the training camp while hoping to be traded. But he didn't get a deal, and the 76ers began fining him for his absence. Simmons eventually reported to Philadelphia and resumed training, but he did not play any preseason or regular season games for the 76ers. Friday's game was the team's home debut.
So far, Philadelphia has proven unable to find a satisfactory deal for Simmons. The 76ers have reportedly sought huge payoffs for their young stars, but with All-Star players like Damian Lillard and Bradley Beal seemingly unable to get them, Philadelphia has held out and refused to accept lower offers. The situation has become increasingly controversial, but for now, Simmons is still an unhappy member of the 76ers.
