Voice actor Wei Yuping, formerly known as Pan Zuxun, also known as Pan Shu, was born in 1920 in Okayama Prefecture, Japan. He returned to his homeland with his parents as a child and spent his primary and secondary school years in Tianjin and Shanghai. In 1938, at the age of 18, Wei Yuping joined the Second Anti-Enemy Drama Team and the Hong Kong Drama Association in Hankou, Wuhan, and successively performed progressive dramas such as "Family Broken And Dead" and "Professor Mamen". In 1942, he entered the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. In 1945, he joined the Shanghai Kugan Theater Troupe and the Beiping Nanbei Opera Society as an actor. He has performed dramas such as "Sweet Sister", "Chincha Minister", "Soul Returns to Hate Heaven" and so on. After 1947, he starred in films such as "Where Spring Returns", "Intestines Break the End of the World", "New Grievances", "Reunion", "Mother", "Green Mountain Cuigu", "Hanshan Temple Bells" and other film companies in Shanghai Cathay, "China Electricity" No. 2 Factory, Kunlun, Tsinghua, Wenhua and other film companies. In November 1949, he joined the Shanghai Film Studio as an actor. He has played major roles in films such as "Farmhouse", "Tianluodi Net", "Battle in the Desert", "Spring in the World", "Fragrant Drifting Miles", "Jinsha Riverside" and other films, his performance is gentle but not fiery, showing a high artistic accomplishment. During this period, he voiced the characters of "The Mighty Wind of the Angry Sea", "Michurin", "The Legend of the Ranger", "The Great Dawn", "The Great Citizen", "Chincha Minister", "Ukrainian Poet Shevchenko", "Cattle Fly", "Pretty Friend", "People with False Feelings", "A Lesson in Life", "Kiev Girl", "Twelfth Night", "Castle Of Collapse", "Matsukawa Incident", "Battle of Rome", "Warlord" and other translated and produced characters. In 1957, Wei Yuping won the first prize for outstanding films from the Ministry of Culture in 1949-1955.
In 1973, Wei Yuping was transferred to the Shanghai Film Translation Studio as the director and head of the actor group. Wei Yuping is a very good voice actor, and in terms of his artistic achievements, it is generally believed that his achievements in dubbing are better than those in film performance. He voiced Shakhov in "The Great Citizen", Shevchenko in "The Ukrainian Poet - Shevchenko", the police chief in "Confessions of the Police Chief", and the head of the Soviet KGB in "Snake", these voices full of magnetism and masculinity make people never forget Wei Yuping's great achievements in dubbing. In particular, in 1955, he voiced the protagonist Arthur in the Soviet film "Bullfly", which can be said to be Wei Yuping's representative work in dubbing. Someone once commented: "This film can be accompanied by Wei Yuping with cattle flies, it is really not a second person to think, he is the only high-pitched and agitated voice in the translation factory that can match Sun Daolin, and he has more nervous trembling than Sun Daolin." ”
However, it is very regrettable that in November 1978, Wei Yuping was paralyzed by a sudden cerebral hemorrhage and stroke, and painfully left his beloved film acting and dubbing career. In his later years, Wei Yuping lay in a hospital bed for ten years, and in the last year of his life, he suffered from severe emphysema. On March 7, 1988, Wei Yuping died of a long illness at the age of 68.
