Zhao Pu was born on April 24, 1971 in Huangshan City, Anhui Province, his father is an engineer, his mother is a team doctor of a sports team of the Anhui Provincial Sports Committee, although it is not a rich and noble family, but Zhao Pu has been well fed and clothed since childhood.
The young Zhao Pu was good in other ways but his academic performance was not good, so in 1987, when he was 16 years old, he decided to become a soldier. His father was adamantly opposed to this choice, because in his father's view he could learn a skill before he could gain a foothold in society instead of becoming a soldier. Fortunately, his mother supported him, and his mother felt that being a soldier would allow Zhao Pu to understand society and learn to get along with people, which was a good experience. In the end, Zhao Pu's father compromised.
After entering the army, because Zhao Pu liked poetry recitation and also liked to publish board newspapers, the chief felt that he could become a broadcaster. So Zhao Pu became a broadcaster, but the broadcaster in the army was different from the broadcaster on the radio, and at that time, Zhao Pu's main task was the division number, that is, he was responsible for the wake-up number, morning exercise number, work number, lunch number, dinner number, sleep number, emergency assembly number, and training number of the whole unit.
In addition to the division number, Zhao Pu also needs to write out some stories that occurred in the army, and then arrange them into programs for broadcast, or write articles and send them to the relevant organ newspapers and periodicals. At that time, Zhao Pu wondered if he could do a job related to microphones in the future.
Zhao Pu thought so and did this, after retiring from the army in 1990, he entered the Anhui Provincial Sports Committee where his mother worked, and with a stable job, he was admitted to the amateur host of Hefei Radio in 1991, and part-time hosted a program called "Happy Sunday".
After hosting a radio station for a year and a half, Zhao Pu wanted to make greater progress in his hosting career, just in time for hefei's TV program to recruit a host, so Zhao Pu went to the interview and took the exam, and as a result, he was not admitted. Later, Hefei held a provincial capital city host competition, and Zhao Pu went to the exam, but he was not admitted. He ran to participate in the province's Mandarin competition again, and as a result, he did not even enter the rematch, which made Zhao Pu very sad. However, the sad thing did not end, because he worked part-time as a host, the Anhui Provincial Sports Committee did not renew him when considering whether to renew him, and Zhao Pu lost his stable job. At that time, after being hired, the security section of the Anhui Provincial Sports Commission invited him to be a security guard, but he refused.
In the face of a series of unpleasant things encountered, Zhao Pu seriously thought about it, and finally decided to study in professional colleges related to hosting and improve himself. After some effort, he was admitted to the Beijing Broadcasting Institute in 1995.
After entering the university, Zhao Pu found that his academic level was the lowest, and he understood the gap between himself and others, so he studied hard, and won the undergraduate diploma in 2001 and the master's degree in 2009.
In addition to his hard work, he was offered an internship at Beijing Television in 1996, during which he was mainly engaged in dubbing work, and in order to save money, he also rented a basement to live. Fortunately, when he interned at Beijing Television For nearly 200 days, he had his own program at Beijing Television. After 3 years of working at Beijing Television, his hosting career became more and more smooth, but in the first half of 1999, he was laid off because he "raised the bar" with the producer at the time on a certain issue, but so far Zhao Pu did not regret it, because he felt that people could not easily give up their principles and could not easily compromise. It's just that Zhao Pu's life has become difficult at the moment, because he has just moved out of the basement and rented a small two-bedroom apartment for 2,000 yuan.
Fortunately, at that time, Zhao Pu's ability was very recognized within Beijing Television, and in the second half of 1999, he resumed work, hosted many important programs of Beijing Television, and became one of the core backbone hosts of Beijing Television.
However, for Zhao Pu, who pursues excellence, he still wants greater progress. At the age of 35, an opportunity appeared in front of him, when Li Jiaming, the male host of CCTV's "Happy Dictionary" program, was going to study abroad, and the program urgently needed a male host. So CCTV held a "Charming New Partner" competition for the "Happy Dictionary", and Zhao Pu signed up to participate and entered the top three. Soon after, Zhao Pu became the host of "Chaowen Tianxia", and in 2011 he became the host of CCTV's "Evening News".
In the "Evening News", the audience saw Zhao Pu's "bloodiness", he once was dissatisfied with the behavior of a certain country when broadcasting a certain news, he said bluntly in the program: "No matter how big and precise the bomb is, it is difficult to destroy people's will and psychology." For the behavior of some countries to prey on whales, he still said bluntly in the program: "Whale meat is delicious, can it live forever?" ”。 And he wept because of sadness when broadcasting news about the Wenchuan earthquake, and he was praised by netizens for flesh and blood. It can be said that during the hosting of the "Evening News", Zhao Pu's reputation reached its peak, but the trajectory of his fate was quietly changing.
What many people don't know is that Zhao Pu has always been enthusiastic about public welfare, he hosted the program "Public Welfare Song Stage" when he was at Beijing Television in 1999, devoted himself to the project of Hope Project, and also initiated the establishment of the "Host Love Group", when more than 100 hosts of Beijing Television Station joined, each supporting two children in Huairou Mountain District.
Whether it is in Beijing TV or CCTV, Zhao Pu has always insisted on doing public welfare, and it can even be said that doing public welfare occupies 60% of his time, while hosting programs only occupies 40% of his time, which ultimately changes the direction of his destiny.
On November 1, 2015, Zhao Pu applied to CCTV to leave his job, and he left CCTV, where he had worked for 9 years, when he was 44 years old. As for the reason for leaving, he revealed many years later that he was making a series of miniature documentaries "Descendants". Zhao Pu made such a documentary to record the inheritance of the craftsman's craft, hoping to protect the handicraft that was on the verge of being lost. It is precisely because of this documentary that Zhao Pu has a new understanding of rival artists, when he asked himself: "If you can make a choice again, what will you do?" He found the inner answer: "I want to be a person who serves craftsmen." ”
After resigning from CCTV, Zhao Pu initiated and founded the China Handicraft Development Research Center, an NGO organization, aiming to protect and pass on folk skills and heirs. He also joined a handicraft trading platform that brings together more than 4,000 craftsmen, a platform that provides a commercial platform for folk craftsmen to offer artifacts, lifestyles, spaces and philosophies of life. He also set up an investment company, mainly investing in cultural and creative products.
Today, Zhao Pu occasionally hosts some activities and is still enthusiastic about public welfare, while his energy is mainly focused on craftsmen, and he spares no effort to protect and inherit folk skills.
