Seeing such an absurd scene, Zhang Taiyan was overwhelmed, took a pen and paper, and waved it as a couplet:
Today's Xinghaizi, tomorrow's Xingxihe, a few forgetful of zengxing ancient Chang'an, billions of ointments of blood thrown lightly, only one person Qingyou;
Fifty cut Yunnan, sixty cut Taiwan, at this time cut the three eastern provinces, thousands of miles of territory abandoned, every time there is no longevity of Xinjiang.
The couplet quickly spread, and the words "one person celebrating you" and "long life frontier no" caused a commotion in the country.
Compared with the couplets posted throughout the country, these eight words are only reversed in the last two words, but their meaning has completely changed.
The Shou Lian was transformed into a couplet that lashed out at Cixi, and Cixi's 70th birthday really became a national joke. Finally, the birthday celebration ended hastily.
After scolding the empress dowager, the people turned to war and scolded Yuan Shikai.
In 1914, Yuan Shikai wanted to restore the imperial system, and Zhang Taiyan angrily made a big fuss in the presidential palace, smashing things when he saw things and scolding people when he saw them. Yuan Shikai hid in the back room and did not dare to come out to see him at all.
After that, Zhang Taiyan was placed under house arrest. During this period, he wrote the words "Yuan Thief" and cursed "Kill Emperor Yuan's head" in a race against time.

Mr. Taiyan was not good at Chinese, so he used Zhejiang Yuyao dialect to give a lecture, Liu Bannong's gentle whispers as a translator, Qian Xuan's co-workers wrote a board book, and Ma Youyu bi gongbi respectfully poured tea.

Last Words
Elder Zhang's life was wild and uninhibited, and his last words also made a brilliant mark in history.

On June 14, Elder Zhang followed the doctor's advice, walked around the house alone after dinner, suddenly fell ill, suddenly fell to the ground, and said on his deathbed: "After my death, the Zhongxia culture will also die." ”

In 1902, Zhang Taiyan served as a teacher at Su Bao. "Su Bao" often published anti-Qing remarks, among which Zou Rong's "Revolutionary Army" and Zhang Taiyan's "Refuting Kang Youwei's Revolutionary Book" had the greatest social repercussions. Subsequently, the Qing court investigated and handled the "Su Bao", and the famous Su Bao case occurred.
The members of the society who secretly learned the news all fled, but Zhang Taiyan was awe-struck and refused to leave, saying: "There is no revolution without bloodshed, I have been taken by the Qing court seven times, and now it is the eighth time, I am determined to bleed, why should I run away!" "So he and Zou Rong were arrested and imprisoned.
Before the incident, Wu Zhihui had a separate meeting with Yu Mingzhen, a Qing court investigator, and fled the farthest after the crime. According to reports, Su reported that the crime was reported by Wu Zhihui.
In 1906, Zhang Taiyan was released from prison and taken to Japan by Sun Yat-sen. The following year, he published the Biography of Zou Rong to commemorate Zou Rong, who died of illness and prison, and scolded Wu Zhihui for informing him. As a result, the two were hostile for a lifetime.
After going into exile in Japan, Zhang Taiyan was appointed editor-in-chief of Minbao. However, less than a year after taking office, Zhang Taiyan fell out with Sun Yat-sen.
At that time, Sun Yat-sen was expelled by the Japanese government, and the Japanese business and the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs donated 18,000 yuan. Sun Yat-sen plotted to use the money to revolt, leaving only two thousand to fund the Minbao.
Zhang Taiyan suspected Sun Yat-sen of corruption and asked him to keep ten thousand, but Sun Yat-sen refused. Zhang Taiyan was angry, so he took off his portrait and said angrily: "Sun Wen, who betrayed the Minbao, should be torn away immediately." ”
Later, Sun Yat-sen secretly transported guns to Guangdong, but Zhang Taiyan thought that the model was too old to fight, so he telegraphed to Hong Kong's China Daily. At this time, smuggling qia failed again, and Sun Yat-sen angrily rebuked Zhang Taiyan for "leaking secrets". The two had a very unpleasant fight.
