Yangqi Village, located in Gaishan Town, Cangshan District, Fuzhou City, is Yan Fu's hometown. In the winter of 1866, yan fu, who was only 14 years old, set out from here and was admitted to the Ship Administration School with the first place, which began his extraordinary life.

Yan Fu was fully exposed to new Western knowledge such as English, geometry, chemistry, and navigation at the School of Ship Administration, and in 1872, he graduated with the best grades and then went on a ship to intern. In 1877, he was sent to study in England, and after returning to China, he successively served as a teacher at the Ship Administration School, a yangwen zheng teacher at the Beiyang Marine Teacher's School, and the first president of Peking University.

After the defeat in the Battle of Jiawu, Yan Fu published five political treatises in the Zhibao newspaper, "On the Urgent Need of World Changes", "Yuan Qiang", "Breaking Han", "Continuation of The Original Qiang", and "The Theory of Salvation", to expound his ideas on changing the law, and then he began to translate and introduce Western ideas to the Chinese people, becoming a translator and thinker of epoch-making significance.

The reporter learned that the former residence of Yangqi Yanfu was repaired in 2018, covering an area of 745 square meters, and the pattern was two into three bays, consisting of front and rear halls, left and right boxes, front and back patios, etc. Yan Fu lived in the second west Phi Xie, and the reading office was in the first place.

Not far from the former residence, is the location of the Yangqi Yan Clan Ancestral Hall and the Yangqi Yanfu Memorial Hall. In 2003, Yan Xiaopeng, a descendant of Yan Fu who was deeply influenced by Yan Fu, rebuilt the Yangqi Yan Clan Ancestral Hall and built the Yangqi Yanfu Memorial Hall and the Yanfu Family Training Family Style Hall in 18 years.

In 2019, the Cangshan District of Fuzhou upgraded the Yangqi Yanfu Memorial Hall, which introduced Yan Fu's life and his relationship with Yangqi. The Yan Fu translations placed in the display cabinet are extremely precious, including the first edition of nanyang public school translation "Original Fu" in 1902, the "Social Interpretation" published by the Commercial Press in 105, and the "Qunxue Dialect" published by the Commercial Press in 1915.
