The Last Supper, a world-famous painting, was painted by the genius Leonardo da Vinci on the walls of the dining room of the Grecci Monastery in Milan. The Last Supper is one of the most important events recorded in the Christian New Testament, and many painters have painted it, but no one can surpass Leonardo da Vinci's painting.
Looking at the creative characteristics of other painters, everyone has a common feature, which is to separate Judas from the other disciples and let him sit alone, much like being judged by everyone. Leonardo da Vinci's creative method is very different, first of all, through his clever composition and superb layout, he makes the real dining room and the hall building on the screen blend together, so that the viewer feels that the scene in the painting is in front of him.
Let's review the Biblical description of the Last Supper. In the first scene, where Jesus eats with 12 disciples, Jesus says, "I tell you the truth, and one of you is going to betray me." The disciples were shocked and asked one by one, "Lord, is it me?" Jesus replied, "It is among you who eat bread with my hands dipped in my hands." ”
Then in act II, Jesus blessed him with a piece of bread and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Eat, this is my flesh," and then he raised his glass of blessing and gave the crowd again, "Come and drink this wine, this is my blood, the blood of atonement for mankind, the blood of peace with God." "It is a very shocking scene, in which Jesus is in the middle position, and the body forms a perfect triangle, which is the symbol of the Trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the Christian world.
Jesus' two-handed posture is also mysterious, in a state of spreading, with a wine glass on his right hand side with his "blood" inside; on the left hand side is a face, alluding to his body. There are different interpretations of such gestures, and Jesus is likely to indicate that he was calm in expressing the impending death.
Why is The Last Supper so famous? Experts believe that the painting is magnified 10 times, the more you look at it, the more flavorful it becomes, and the characters from the left to the right of the picture are: Bartholomew, Jacob the Younger, Andrea, Judas, Simon Peter, John, Jesus, Thomas, Jacob the Great, Philip, Matthew, Simon, and Data.
Everyone knows that Judas was a traitor, and this painting fully reflects this. Zooming in to see judas and Jesus' hands reaching for a plate at the same time also echoes Jesus' hint, "He who dips his hand in a plate with me is the one who betrays me." There was another detail, Judas's expression was very unnatural, and his right hand was still clutching his own money bag.
In Leonardo da Vinci's painting, Judas is no longer separated from the other disciples, but instead gives the impression that he was trying to hide among the disciples. Each disciple in the painting has his own gesture in an attempt to explain his innocence. For example, when Simon Peter pushed him away, he was eager to ask who was a traitor to John, who was close to Jesus.
Although the disciples' emotions are more complicated, the picture is not at all cluttered. Leonardo da Vinci used a very high technique to divide the 12 disciples into four groups, each group of 3 people, making the picture very rhythmic, so it is deserved as a famous painting.
