Last week, an unusual fish was washed off the coast of California, USA by the sea. The fish is shaped like a football, with teeth as sharp as broken glass, and has been described by the US media as a "monster fish".
According to CNN news on the 12th, last Friday (7th), this all-black creature was found with an open mouth, lying in crystal bay state park in Laguna Beach, California. The park authorities posted pictures of the strange fish on social media and said it could be "Pacific Football Fish." "It's so rare to see such a complete sturgeon in person, and it's not yet known how or why the fish is lying on the beach."
According to California State Park, the Pacific lanternfish is one of more than 200 species of squid in the world, typically found in the depths of the ocean. The creature's teeth are as sharp and sharp as glass shards, and their large mouths are capable of sucking and devouring prey the same size as their own bodies. California State Park judged the fish to be female, usually the female can grow up to 24 inches, while the male can only grow to about 1 inch. "Only females have long stalks and glowing tips to lure prey 3,000 feet into the pitch-black water."
The body of the strange fish is kept by the California Fish and Wildlife Service for research and educational purposes. (Overseas Network Wang Shanning)
