In the nursery room of the county Marine Science and Technology Research Institute, the reporter saw that the staff was putting bait for the equilate shallow clam seeds in the pool. Gu Zhongqi, chief engineer of the county economic and information bureau, told reporters: "Because Shengsi is at the mouth of the Yangtze River, the salinity of the sea water in this season is affected by the water of the Yangtze River, and the salinity is relatively low, so it also has a certain impact on the equilateral shallow clam seedlings." ”
After the scientific researchers overcame layers of technical difficulties, the situation of seedlings gradually improved, and the amount of ponds was higher than last year. At present, the larvae have entered the creeping metamorphosis stage, the quality is better than in previous years, and the attachment base can be released immediately.
Equilateral shallow clams are the original dominant species of mudflat shellfish in our county, and due to overfishing and environmental changes, the amount of wild resources has decayed sharply, showing a trend of young age and scattered distribution. In 2011, the County Marine Science and Technology Research Institute broke through the key technology of artificial seedling breeding of equilateral shallow clams for the first time in China, and carried out the transformation and application of achievements. In the past 9 years, more than 380 million seeds of breeding and stocking seedlings have been cultivated, which has played a positive role in the restoration of marine biological resources in our county.
"From June this year to now, we have cultivated the first seedlings, from larval cultivation to now metamorphosis to juvenile shellfish, and in about a little more than a month, we can multiply and release into the sea area." Gu Zhongqi said.
It is understood that after the breeding and stocking of equilateral shallow clam larvae enter the natural environment, they can be collected after growing for about two years.
