On April 26, Red Star News reporters learned from Chongzhou City that the Chongzhou Tianyan Museum in Chongzhou City has successfully completed the world's largest "fossil dinosaur".
In the second exhibition hall of the Chongzhou Tianyan Museum, the Red Star News reporter saw this "fossil dinosaur", 39.8 meters long and 15 meters tall, very majestic, and looked a little cramped in the huge exhibition hall. According to the information in the exhibition hall, this is a Mamenxi dragon, the fossil was found in Xinjiang, China, according to the study of fossils, it lived in the Jurassic period.

The world's largest "fossil dinosaur" appeared in Chengdu
Liu Yiyang, director of the office of chongzhou Tianyan Museum, revealed on the spot that this "fossil dinosaur" is not a dinosaur fossil with real materials all over the body. "Its fossil content is between 30% and 35%, which is relatively high among the dinosaurs that have been completed." According to international standards, the fossil content reaches 20%, which can be assembled and restored by dinosaur fossils, and the insufficient part can be supplemented by model materials.
This is also the origin of the title of "fossil dinosaur" and "largest". "This is the largest 'fossil dinosaur' that has been mounted so far." Wang Fudong, director of the Chongzhou Tianyan Museum, explained that the largest dinosaur fossil found in the world is beyond this Mamenxi dragon, but the number of fossils is small and cannot be assembled.
Wang Fudong introduced that as early as 2003, the fossil of this dinosaur was found in Xinjiang. From 2008 to 2011, the fossil excavation was completed and brought back to Chongzhou in its entirety. "After the fossils are brought back, they need to be left for a long time, until the fossils are completely dry before they can be assembled." Around 2016, the fossil racking officially began, "to repair each fossil, and then complete the assembly by hand." Fine assembly work until 2021.
Other dinosaur fossils in the museum's collection
In addition to this "fossil dinosaur", the Chongzhou Tianyan Museum also has more than 70 species and more than 100 other "fossil dinosaurs", as well as mammoths, giant rhinoceros, sea lilies and other paleontological fossils, which is a national science popularization education base approved by the Chinese Paleontological Society, and a three-level science popularization education base in Sichuan Province, Chengdu City and Chongzhou City. "We are mainly engaged in specimen collections in the fields of paleontology, animals, plants and anthropology." Wang Fudong introduced that Chengdu's fossil repair, restoration, mold turning, mounting and other technologies have been in a domestic position, reaching the world's advanced level.
It is reported that the museum is open to the public, and interested spectators can buy tickets to visit.
