In July 2018, former actor Hirofumi Arai (41), who sexually assaulted a 30-year-old woman at a dispatched massage parlor at his own home in Tokyo, was sentenced to four years in prison by the Tokyo High Court.

In a first-instance judgment last December, the Tokyo District Court sentenced the defendant, Hirofumi Arai, to five years in prison. Unsatisfied, Arai immediately appealed, after which he compensated the victim 3 million yen and reached a civil settlement. In this high court hearing, the sentence was commuted to 4 years' imprisonment, taking into account that the parties had already settled. Since Arai did not appeal, the judgment came into effect.

Born on January 18, 1979, Hirofumi Arai has starred in the comic strip "Jose and the Tiger and the Fish", "The Dream Eater", and "The Disaster of Nanao Saiki".
