Two years ago, as the leader of the medical team at the Zuogong County People's Hospital in Tibet, I was nervous and busy with my comrades-in-arms for the birth of a baby, and the scene is still fresh in my memory.

Zuogong, if not carefully searched, is a small plateau city that is likely to be overlooked on the map of Tibet. It is 3750 meters above sea level, the land is sparsely populated, and the natural conditions are harsh. In July 2019, the 19th batch of medical teams led by me came to the Zuogong County People's Hospital in Tibet to carry out health poverty alleviation.

One early morning in December of that year, a harsh telephone ringing woke up Wang Huiqi, a nurse in the operating room. It turned out that a pregnant woman had a sudden situation and needed urgent surgery. The rescue conditions in the hospital wards are limited, and we transfer the pregnant women to the operating room as soon as possible. The preoperative preparation took only 5 minutes, and everyone was racing against the clock. From the phone notification to the birth of the child, the whole process did not take more than 15 minutes. The newborn is hypoxic, there are almost no vital signs after birth, the midwife Xiao Rui with rich experience, after chest compression plus positive pressure ventilation, the recovery is successful, the baby resumed spontaneous breathing!

After reviewing the entire rescue process the next day, we immediately solved the problem of unclear division of the sensory control area of the operating room and the poor concept of sterility of the personnel, and planned a reasonable layout of the operating room by cutting off and using the corridor space.

Last year, with the joint efforts of everyone, Zuogong County People's Hospital also broke the history of no emergency department. On the first day of the emergency department's operation, it encountered an "accident". At dinner time, a critically ill patient was rescued after about 50 minutes and was temporarily out of danger. At that time, the medical conditions of the hospital could not meet the follow-up treatment of patients, so they had to be transported overnight. There are no transport ventilators, and medical staff take turns using balloons to assist patients with breathing along the way. 273 kilometers, more than 5 hours of rugged mountain road, along the way to help patients assist breathing nurse Yuan Jing's hands have long been numb, and her body is almost frozen. It was not until the patient was safely transferred to the Changdu People's Hospital for continued treatment that she was slightly relieved.

In the process of aiding Tibet, not everything can be achieved, but everything is worth trying, and every member of our medical team knows that no matter how small the effort, as long as you persist, it will become great.

In the past 10 years, too many experts and professors in the 19 batches of medical teams in the center have poured their hearts and minds into Zuogong. Today, the county hospital has a good medical technology foundation, and can independently carry out general anesthesia, caesarean section, liver echinococcosis surgery and so on. In the past two years, the 19th batch of medical teams have carried out business training and personnel training for county hospitals through the normalization of academic lectures at the hospital and department levels, remote network medical education, the selection of technical backbones to go out for further study, the development of assessment publicity and competition competitions.

For more than a year of counterpart assistance in Tibet, we strongly feel that the precise poverty alleviation in medical treatment is actually a "air force blue" and "plateau red" water and milk fusion. During this period, it was not only the masses of all nationalities that benefited, but also when the "Air Force Blue" was stained with "Plateau Red", each of our military medical workers also completed a spiritual baptism.
