Last week, Tina: The Tina Turner Musical reopened at the Lent Fontani Theatre. The film starred the new Tony Award for Best Actress Adrian Warren, who previously announced she would quit the musical after October 31.
The musical follows rock queen Tina Turner's transformation from rural Tennessee to global stardom. Several of her hit songs, including "Proud Mary" and "The Private Dancer," have been put into musicals.
After premiering in London's West End and Hamburg, Germany, the musical premiered on Broadway on November 7, 2019, and at the just-concluded 74th Tony Awards, it received 12 Tony nominations, including Best Musical, with Warren winning the Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her role as Tina Turner.
