When it comes to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, many people immediately think of the Himalayas, the youngest and highest mountain range on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and the world's highest peak, Mount Everest, is its main peak, which is the absolute top of the world. First of all, although the Himalayas have the highest average altitude, there are also river-cut valleys, many rivers cutting the Himalayas from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau to the Indian subcontinent, the most famous is the Brahmaputra, the Brahmaputra Grand Canyon is a wonder of the world. Surprisingly, the Ganges Mountains, with almost no river cuts, are the main watershed of the Tibetan Plateau. To the south of the Ganges Mountains is the Indian Ocean system, and to the north is the artesian or Pacific water system. The altitude is not high, but it is not as broken as the Himalayas, and it is relatively a very complete mountain range. Although the kailash peak is only 6656 meters above sea level, it is not ranked at all among the many mountains above 8000 meters on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and even compared to the neighboring Namunani Peak (7694 meters), it is also a small witch, but it is the most famous sacred mountain in history, and because it is considered the center of the world, it has become a pilgrimage center of Tibetan Buddhism, Hinduism, Yongzhong Bon religion and other religions. Kailash's mountain shape is easy to identify, the main peak is covered with ice and snow in all seasons, shaped like a domed pyramid, the four walls are very symmetrical, like an eight-petal lotus flower, and the mountain body is made of crystal, like a highly skilled jade inlaid ice sculpture. From the south, its famous symbol can be seen: the Buddhist swastika emblem, which consists of a huge ice trough perpendicular down from the peak and transverse rock formations. Kailash Peak is often surrounded by white clouds, which is difficult to see, but when the sun shines, it will flash a strange colorful light, which is particularly dazzling.
Perhaps the divine power of the "center of the world" no one dared to offend, and Kailash is still the virgin peak that no one has climbed to this day. The place where the monks practice, Kailash means "mountain of the gods" in Tibetan, and Sanskrit means "Shiva's paradise", which is the "heaven of the gods" in Indian mythology. It has long been the center of the common faith of the four major sects of Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism and Bonism, and is a place where tens of thousands of believers of all ethnic groups in China, India and Nepal are fascinated.
At the foot of the mountain, there are two natural lakes, separated by only 15 kilometers, a freshwater lake and a saltwater lake, known locally as the Holy Lake (Mapan Yongcuo) and the Ghost Lake (Laon Cho), which together with Kailash form the "Sacred Lake of the Sacred Mountain" area.
