Wu Haochen: A very different period of time. From either point of view, these two months have been very exciting. I think that as long as the actor goes to the stage to complete the performance, he will have a certain fluctuation in mood, and these two months are a period of time when I am quite full and dense to accept new things and all kinds of information related to drama.
Dante says: "New Life in Theater" feels like you show every aspect of it, like playing the guitar, selling tickets, and so on.
Wu Haochen: Partially. The work intensity of this program is relatively large, and the personal time is still relatively small.
Dante said: The program team has labeled you a "business wizard", this skill you think has always been there, or did you discover this side of yourself through this show?
Wu Haochen: I just give you a lot of things, and business is far away. Because I also work in the theater company myself, I often face a lot of difficulties to solve myself, but I have always scratched my head for many things in the theater, which means that there is no business acumen.

Dante said: You are actually the youngest of them, helping this group of sentimental people deal with these practical problems and solve the problem of money. I see a lot of netizens saying that you are very reliable.
Wu Haochen: There are also some people who think that this way of selling tickets is not liked. My idea is that things are in order. There is a rule in the show first, and then there is a task or purpose. We must first respect the rules, not that I directly go to that purpose, and I often can't achieve that goal.
For example, if I do the troupe at my own expense, I will not set this kind of rule in the program myself. When I can afford it, I'm less willing to put in the effort to negotiate or sell tickets. These things do not have any pleasure or sense of accomplishment for me. You see in the show, I'm not happy or sad because of the success or failure of any of the negotiations. You see I still have to go back to rehearsal after I talked, and I pulled Xiao Ye Brother to listen to his views on the drama. I still want to ask Xiao Yige how to play this musical. Wu Haochen: One of the problems is that I think I should go back to the stage to practice more. For example, physical fitness, a good actor must have very good physical fitness, but because of the problem of his own life schedule and my work almost all year round before recording the "Drama New Life" program, I feel that sometimes the state on the stage is not the best.
Another problem is the question of understanding classic drama. We talked about French drama, or Italian improvisational theater, and my understanding of these things is still very shallow. In this way, I will encounter many difficulties in the creative process, and I will not be so familiar with it.
Here I would like to say that it is particularly coincidental that I recently received a drama called "Waiting for Godot", and I can have the honor to study with Mr. Yi Liming next. Waiting for Godot uses some of the performance methods of French and Italian theater, and with a master I can begin to systematically learn these skills.
Dante said: Some netizens say that you are not very relaxed on stage, do you agree with this statement?
Wu Haochen: It depends on how to define this, although what the audience said must be correct. I think it's a different kind of expression that actors can perform at different stages. In this process of growth, the suggestions, criticisms, and corrections put forward by everyone will be read and accepted by me, but more importantly, at this stage, I want to learn, improve my understanding of myself, and improve my understanding of the classification of various arts not only drama.
Dante said: "So your emotions don't suffer from these evaluations, do you?"
Wu Haochen: Not so much, I don't care what I gain in the process. Drama is so different from filming, and my intention to go to "New Life of Drama" is very clear, that is, to concentrate on doing only drama for two months.
24 hours a day for those two months, everything was drama-related, and it was a particularly good training camp for me. After the program was recorded, I found some directions for myself. Back in Beijing, back to my "Big Deal Troupe", I immediately did such a thing as the Shakespeare Script Reading Workshop, and continued to return to classical drama.
Looking back at where I performed well and where I didn't perform well before, it didn't make sense, and things passed. Some people are willing to look back and feel that it is their own experience. But I felt that I was too late, that I was too late to run forward, and that I was still looking back at what I was doing.
Dante said: Which of the shows you're most satisfied with?
Wu Haochen: "Lear Circus ~ A Random Improvisational Rhapsody" is the most rewarded play by live audiences. But my favorite is Heart.
Dante said: What do you think of everyone saying you "Treasure Boy"?
Wu Haochen: No boys, no boys at the age of 27.
Dante said: Speaking of age, when you were a freshman, you said you wanted to do stage plays for ten years, and as a result, you quickly went to star in film and television dramas. Ten years of dating, it feels like a very romantic thing, now go back to the idea of freshman year, is there a new feeling?
Wu Haochen: It's lucky. I have not experienced the hardships of that life, and then I can now work with a drama predecessor like Yi Liming on a masterpiece like "Waiting for Godot", which is hardly a blessing. I had been prepared for the worst, ready for ten years to drink the northwest wind, but by fate. I can still do some of what I like, and I will accept the fate of the arrangement.
There is no romance and emotion of a ten-year covenant here, no. At that time, the ten years of pulling the curtain also had the element of youthful vigor and competition, and the teacher said at that time that you should sink your heart, and you should sink your heart and work hard.
Dante said: Big deal the troupe you are the initiator, what was the opportunity to create the troupe in 2019?
Wu Haochen: It's the top. At that time, I went to the Wuzhen Theater Festival with some friends and came back to do this thing. The troupe at the end of 19 years to the present, a year and a half of the way. There were no actual plans at the time.
Dante said: What was the company's plan after that?
Wu Haochen: The long-term plan is not yet available. The current plan is to do a reading of the script, and the whole troupe will learn from Shakespeare, study Shakespeare, and return to the essence of drama through the way of script reading.
During the training process, we hope to recruit some capable and talented friends to join us. The troupe now reads it by five or six people themselves and I don't think it has the maximum effect. If there are seven or eight more friends, their perspective is different from ours, and they can bring fresh understanding, which is the best, there is no such lofty plan.
We set only small goals, and the goal for the first half of the year is to continue to do Shakespeare workshops (i.e., script reading) without any creative plans. In the second half of the year, we still have to insist on doing original dramas, and it is a big deal that the troupe has done all original dramas since its establishment. Even if we adapt it, we will not take the original mature script, even if we use a Novel of Camus, we will write it ourselves and make a work that we want to make a sound.
Dante said: The theater side asks you one last question, do you think you have a talent in the field of theater?
Wu Haochen: I'm so talented, I finally waited for this question.

Wu Haochen: There is no head, talent is natural in my understanding.

Dante said: Do whatever you encounter, is this your sense of belief? Because I saw Ma Yili's program also said, is that I feel that your sense of faith is particularly strong.
Wu Haochen: What she calls the sense of belief is the dramatic assumption, a certain belief in this thing. And what does a sense of faith in my life come from? Maybe it comes from one kind, it can only be done this way, it has no reason. I'm not qualified to make a comparison, can you understand? Because I didn't have a choice. I came to Beijing alone when I was 17 years old, and I didn't do it myself, did I? I recently re-read "38 Letters Rockefeller Left to My Son" and I felt like I had to do it. I just said this without a little bitterness, but it seems to be quite bitter to say it, which is quite annoying. Don't be bitter, don't you have to do this, what else do you want to do! You do it yourself, you're happy, and then he feeds you, so what's the point?
Dante said: So you are very rational, very embracing of reality.
Wu Haochen: You see this is the treatment of flattening people. I whimpered in the middle of the night, you can't see it, right? I didn't want this other side to be seen, but it was embarrassing that I cried on the show and was captured by camera.
Dante said: You don't like it when people see this, don't you?
Wu Haochen: Why do you want others to see it? Do you want sympathy or whatever. I can only accept one, that is, I don't control it. It's true that sometimes it's uncontrollable, man. So are you saying I was rational when I was shot? My rationality should have been to maximize the effect of the show at that time, rather than avoiding the camera, right?
Dante said: Sometimes people can be a little weaker.
Wu Haochen: Then this is all said by others, and some people will tell you that you are stronger and you have to grit your teeth in everything, so who do you listen to? I can understand that you just said this out of a friend's goodwill, but it doesn't change anything.
Dante said: Let's talk about film and television, do you have any dramas to be broadcast this year, or do you have new works to be filmed?
Wu Haochen: There are still many works to be broadcast, tv series "Bath in Fire", "Glory and Dreams", "Players", movies such as "Deep Sea Crisis", "The Origin of the Journey to the West", and there will be a new movie to be made this year.
Dante said: Have there been any roles that you have been particularly looking forward to encountering over the years?
Wu Haochen: I don't have any ideas about this, and the roles I take on are all things I want to try. You see I took "Bathing In the Fire", where Ding Kai liked it too much. I pick up M in "The Player", and the human opposite in it is particularly charming. What I'm more looking forward to is the unknown in the process of meeting all the future characters.

Wu Haochen: That is definitely Xiao Yuanqi (TV series "The Wind rises in the Long Forest of Langya List"), which is too painful.
He also has problems with his personality, but it's too pathetic! That role had a big impact on me. Even after I had grown up a little bit in acting, I still felt like I was worthy of the role. But at that time, the whole person's state was not good, the face was puffy and acne, and this thing was actually another aspect of growth. As an actor you have to maintain something on the status. But I had just come out of the drama school at that time, and we didn't pay much attention to this on the stage.
Dante said: Have you calculated how much money it takes to feed yourself every month?
Wu Haochen: Coincidentally, I have been rehearsing in Beijing every day recently, and I am still really keeping accounts for a coherent time. I also want to count how much it takes to live in Beijing for a month. Before the crew is not very good statistics, now you can do this thing. But I haven't counted the exact numbers yet.
Dante said: Do you admit mistakes in life?
Wu Haochen: I often apologize, I am willing to apologize, the old apology.
Dante said: If you look for a girlfriend, will you find someone who likes theater? If she doesn't like to watch theater, is that okay?
Wu Haochen: Yes, like it or not, drama is just an art category.
Dante said: She doesn't have to be a literary young woman, right?
Wu Haochen: Not necessarily, how can this thing be certain.
Dante said: You often update the "Notes on the Clouds", do you have any plans to publish a book in the future?
Wu Haochen: At present, there are no plans, but I have received some invitations, and I will not consider them for the time being.
Dante said: You say "there are so many sad people, kind people you can save a few", do you think you are sad people or kind people?
Wu: This can't be chosen, there is no way to choose one of the two, and it is irresponsible to choose it.
Dante said: What is the most crazy thing I've ever done in the last year?
Wu Haochen: There was no crazy thing this year, but there was one more impressive thing. The second time I went to Yinchuan to shoot a scene, a local friend served me a hot pot, and after eating it, he sent me back to the hotel. Drive to an intersection, there are two roads, a road back to the hotel is relatively close, about 3, 5 minutes can be reached; there is a road up the mountain, down the mountain corner can also be to the hotel, the scenery is very good but the distance is relatively far, friends asked me which to choose?
I chose the mountain road. Then the two of them took me all the way up the hill, and the trees on both sides were neatly arranged and beautiful, but it was already dark.
