"Here it comes!" A few days ago, the world-famous Chinese cello musician Ma Youyou appeared in front of the Feng'en Hall of Zhixin Middle School, causing cheers from students.
It is reported that the 2020 (4th) Guangdong International Youth Music Week was led by Yo-Yo Ma, artistic director of the Music Week, and the members of the Music Week Mentor Group composed of international famous artists, the young musicians of the YMCG Symphony Orchestra from all over the world, and the students of the Guangzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra (Junior League) participated in the participation of six community performances in The Diamond Park of Ersha Island, the campus of Zhixin Middle School, the 450-meter viewing platform of Canton Tower, Shamian Center Avenue, Yongqingfang and the Water Stage of cantonese opera art museum.
At Zhixin Middle School, Yo-Yo Ma and all the young musicians and mentors of the Music Week, together with the ensemble group of the Guangzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra (Junior Group), "sang harmony" with the cultural landscape of Zhixin Middle School with the musical elements of Bach. At the scene, Ma Youyou played the first movement overture of Bach's first a cappella cello suite in G major, and two pieces in Mongolian long tunes, attracting many students to stop and watch.
"I hope that no matter where you are, no matter where I am, we can help people come together through Bach's music." Walking out of the concert hall with Bach's music and engaging in a dialogue with the city and nature, Yo-Yo Ma is no stranger. He said he now plays such music all over the world, in concert halls or open spaces, where he plays, and where students, the elderly and young people play.
Since the opening of the week on January 10, the opening ceremony concert, several music salons and "Happy Talk" lectures have been held, as well as master classes, Silk Road Youth Music Workshop, orchestra rehearsals and many other activities arranged from morning to night. The closing ceremony concert was held on the evening of January 18, with the unique open, inclusive, exchange and development of the music week, together with Yo-Yo Ma, the mentor group and all the young musicians of the Music Week YMCG Symphony Orchestra, presented a unique "marathon" concert for the audience on the stage of Xinghai Concert Hall.
