"Dream of the Red Chamber" and "The Tale of the West Chamber" are classic plays in Yue opera, and the audience can't get tired of watching it. On September 21st and 22nd, the two plays will be brought to Tianjin by Shanghai Yue Opera Theater to meet the vast number of Yue opera audiences at the Tianjin Grand Theatre.

Yue opera originated in Shengzhou, Zhejiang Province, is one of the five major types of opera in China, its length is lyrical, aesthetic and elegant, artistic genres are diverse, and the audience of Tianjin, the "Big Pier of Opera", also has a concern and favor for Yue opera. The Shanghai Yue Opera Troupe, which came to Tianjin this time, is a well-known Yue opera group at home and abroad, founded in 1955, and its first president was Yue opera master Yuan Xuefen. In the 66 years since its establishment, the theater has created, adapted and transplanted more than 400 costume dramas, historical dramas and modern dramas, including masterpieces of Yue opera such as "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai", "Xi Xiang Ji", "Dream of the Red Chamber", "Xianglin Concubine" and so on, and a large number of outstanding Yue opera artists and creators have emerged.

The Yue opera "Dream of the Red Chamber" will be staged on September 21. The drama is based on the classical masterpiece "Dream of the Red Chamber", which tells the story of Lin Daiyu, who is frail and sick, defected to Jia Mansion from childhood, developed feelings with Jia Baoyu, burned the manuscript after suffering successive blows, and finally died. The play is one of the great dramas of the Shanghai Yue Theatre, which premiered in Shanghai in 1957 and witnessed the growth of several generations of actors in the theater, and has been revised and improved. The storyline of the version of Laijin this time is more compact, the stage effect is more infectious, and the popular singing sections such as "a Lin sister fell from the sky, like a light cloud just came out" in the play will show the beauty of Yue opera for Tianjin audiences. The play is starred by two young actors, "Xu Pai" Xiaosheng Wang Wanna and "Wang Pai" Hua Dan Chen Minjuan, who are active on the stage.

"The Tale of the West Chamber" is also one of the most representative plays of Yue opera, which is adapted from Wang Shifu's miscellaneous drama "The Tale of the West Chamber", which tells the story of the student Zhang Sheng's encounter with the late Cui Xiangguo's daughter Yingying at the Universal Salvation Temple and the story of love, which is naturally compatible with the artistic characteristics of Yue opera in terms of storyline and form of expression. The Shanghai Yue Theater version of "The Tale of the West Chamber" highlights the four protagonists of Zhang Sheng, Yingying, Red Lady and Lady Cui, and is best known to the audience when Yuan Xuefen, Xu Yulan, Lu Ruiying and Zhang Guifeng performed more than half a century ago, and the audience can feel the artistic charm of different trades and genres of Yue opera from this play. On September 22, young actors such as Zhao Xinyu, Yu Guo, Chen Xinyu and Pan Xidan will perform this classic for Tianjin audiences. (Zhai Zhipeng)
