On the afternoon of October 26, Liu Yi, the designer of the new museum of Chengdu Art Museum and the chief architect of China Architecture Southwest Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd., led the media to visit the museum in advance to reveal the wonderful design of the two main venues: Chengdu Tianfu Art Museum and Chengdu Contemporary Art Museum.

The exhibited works at the Chengdu Biennale will be exhibited in two main venues – Chengdu Tianfu Art Museum and Chengdu Museum of Contemporary Art. The two museums face each other across the lake, liu yi said, and they usually refer to them as Hall A (Tianfu Art Museum) and Hall B (Museum of Contemporary Art), respectively.

Inside the hall of Hall B, workers continue to work on the installation of large installations by the artists. Liu Yi pointed to the huge staircase on the side of the hall and said that it was both a step ladder and a stepped public stand, which would also allow the audience to take a temporary rest in the exhibition hall. According to Liu Yi, Hall B covers an area of nearly 33,000 square meters and has 8 exhibition halls. One of the largest exhibition halls covers an area of 1,500 square meters and is more than 20 meters high, and can put down a huge volume of installation art.
"The design of the Museum of Contemporary Art was inspired by Du Fu's famous phrase 'the window contains a thousand autumn snows in Xiling' – the roof is designed with two wings slowly falling in the shape of a mountain, and tens of thousands of square meters of lawn are laid, from which you can see the snowy mountains in the distance when the weather is good. The building itself also cleverly obscures the third ring road behind it, forming an independent and complete view of the park. Liu Yi said, "There is a lawn with a staircase leading to the roof at the entrance of the venue, which will be open 24 hours a day as a leisure place for the public in the future." ”

Liu Yi also told reporters that after the double year unfolds, dozens of brilliant colorful tents will appear on this lawn, which is the land art work of artist Xiong Wenyun. "I think it should be a punch card for people to take pictures." He laughed. "Even if you can't climb the snow-capped mountains, you can overlook the beautiful scenery of park cities here."

Walking along the artificial lake to the opposite shore of The A Hall (Tianfu Art Museum), an elegant atmosphere comes to the face, and the architectural shape of the venue looks like a huge petal slowly unfolding, standing on the lake. In the square at the entrance, the famous artist Su Xinping's 4.5-meter-high giant sculpture "Walking Man", in groups of three, strides up to the sky, as if to greet the people who come to visit.

Liu Yi told reporters that the total area of Hall A (Tianfu Art Museum) is about 38,000 square meters, and the exhibition area is nearly 13,000 square meters. The design of the venue was inspired by the city flower hibiscus flower of Chengdu. "The white curved roof you see is an alien curved metal roof designed according to the shape of hibiscus petals, and each component plate is tailored in the factory and then transported to the site for assembly, which is very difficult to construct."

After completion, Tianfu Art Museum has 12 enclosed professional exhibition halls, plus 1 open sculpture exhibition hall, in addition to 4 public education spaces, 2 academic lecture halls and 6 professional art library areas. "With a combined area of more than 70,000 square meters, the Tianfu Art Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art are one of the largest art spaces in the world."
