In the early morning of the 6th, Wang Wenjuan, the grandmaster of Yue opera performance and the non-hereditary inheritor of state-level Yue opera, died in Shanghai at the age of 95. Her role as Lin Daiyu in the Yue opera film Dream of the Red Chamber is well known and is recognized by Chinese audiences as "Lin Sister". Wang Wenjuan has been to Fuzhou twice before her death, and the last award she won before her death, the title of "Lifetime Achievement Dramatist of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles", was won in Fuzhou in 2019.

On October 26, 2019, the 16th Chinese Drama Festival opened in Fuzhou. At the opening ceremony, the organizers presented Guo Lanying and Wang Wenjuan with the 2019 honorary certificate of "Lifetime Achievement Dramatist of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles". At that time, due to physical reasons, Wang Wenjuan did not come to Fuzhou and sent her daughter Sun Qingyuan to Fuzhou to receive the award on her behalf.

Before the award, the reporter of this newspaper spoke with Teacher Wang Wenjuan in Shanghai through Sun Qingyuan's mobile phone in the guest lounge. She said: "I have been to Fuzhou twice. In the mid-1950s, Fu Quanxiang and other colleagues of the Shanghai Yue Opera Troupe went to Fuzhou to comfort the officers and men of the frontline troops. Because I used to co-perform with Yin Guifang, in the mid-1980s, I visited young actors at the FangHuayue Theatre Company. Fuzhou has my beloved apprentice Li Min, and I have always been more concerned about the development of Yue opera in Fujian. ”

When the reporter communicated with Wang Wenjuan on the phone, she said: "Fuzhou is a blessed land, this time I wanted to come to Fuzhou to receive the award, but my daughter did not let me come, saying that I am older, and coming to Fuzhou is to add chaos to the theater festival." I've never bothered with organization in my life, and I can't do anything that adds to the chaos, so I can't obey. ”

Li Min, the former winner of the Plum Blossom Award of the Fujian Fanghuayue Opera Troupe, was a disciple of Wang Wenjuan. On the afternoon of the 6th, when the reporter called Li Min, she was braving the rain to take a car to Shanghai to send her mentor on her last journey. She recalled on the other end of the phone: "37 years ago, Teacher Wang Wenjuan visited young actors in the Fanghuayue Opera Troupe. At that time, Wang Junan and I and others had just debuted, Teacher Wang was our idol, and seeing Teacher Wang, in my opinion, was seeing the 'goddess'. Since then I have been fascinated by the Wang School (Yue Opera Danjiao Genre) and later formally worshiped the master. In 2017, the teacher won the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 27th Shanghai Magnolia Theatre Performance Awards, and she specially invited three beloved disciples to sing the excerpt of "Chasing Fish" with her, and I had the honor to be one of them. The teacher has a classic saying, which is widely spread in the theater industry, that is, 'it is simpler to be a person offstage, and it is more complicated to act on stage'. ”

On the 6th, the reporter learned through Wang Wenjuan's relatives that after the outbreak of the epidemic last year, in order to protect this elderly artist, Wang Wenjuan lived in the hospital most of the time. In the hospital, Wang Wenjuan likes to write and flip through books. The most read is still about the book "Dream of the Red Chamber".

In December last year, she was 63 years old in the party, and based on Chairman Mao's poems, she composed the Yue song "Butterfly Love Flower Answer Li Shuyi". At the Shanghai Opera Concert celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China in June this year, Wang Wenjuan's disciples sang the song and won the first prize. This Yue song is Wang Wenjuan's last work. Ms. Wang's memorial service is scheduled for next Tuesday.
