The Gray Sea Dead Fish work is very heavy, with 600 plastic fish on Kong Ning's body and a 40-meter-long glass mesh tail. The weight of this work is a challenge for Kong Ning, and her heart is even heavier. She said: "Fish eat the plastic garbage that people throw into the sea, and then it becomes a plastic fish, and people eat plastic fish", she wants to tell people through the work that there is a lot of plastic garbage in the ocean, and there are a lot of plastic fish. These poor simple fish swallow plastic garbage by mistake, perhaps alive or dead. The blue ocean has begun to turn "gray" due to plastic litter, which is a very serious fact. Kong Ning was invited by Duke Kunshan University to participate in the inaugural Water Village Environmental Film Arts Festival. Together with Duke students, she produced 15 "Plastic Oceans" pieces. The work sews the plastic garbage picked up by the students on the blue raincoat depicting the sea, and covers the blue fish net cover on the face, which on the one hand expresses the guilt of people in front of the sea and the fish, and on the other hand, it also indicates that people are actively taking action to save the ocean. When 15 students wore "blue plastic" and Kong Ning's "Gray Sea Dead Fish" appeared together, they had a strong visual impact, but also very depressing and shocking. Kong Ning said that when these fish, which are used as toys on the Internet, are gathered together and worn on the body, the heaviness suddenly becomes real and shocking. There are only 600 of these works, and there are thousands of uncountable fish that are turning into plastic fish. She gritted her teeth and pulled the 600 fish with the greatest force, using extremely shocking pictures to make people show the current situation of the ocean being polluted. Protecting the oceans is a matter of concern to everyone and cannot be delayed. (Photo provided by Kong Ning authorized to agree to use by China Daily)
