The reporter learned from the Shanghai Yue Theater that Tang Yueying, a Yue opera performance artist and the eldest disciple of Yue opera grandmaster Xu Yulan, died of illness on October 22 at the age of 87.

When Tang Yueying was 15 years old, she studied under Xu Yulan, who was designated by Xu Yulan to learn Hua Dan and was taught by the Kunqu Chuan dynasty, and once used the stage name Xu Xiaoyulan. In 1952, he joined the army with the Magnolia Troupe led by Xu Yulan and worked in the Yue Opera Team of the Former General Political Department's Cultural and Labor Troupe. In April 1953, he went to Korea with the team and went deep into the front line to perform condolences and performances, and the whole team was commended by the General Order of the Political Department of the Volunteer Army. In January 1954, he was instructed to return to the local area with the team.
From the age of 15 to 83, Tang Yueying worked as Xu Yulan's student for 69 years. In the Yulan Troupe led by Xu Yulan and Wang Wenjuan, the Second Troupe of Shanghai Yue Theatre and later the Red Chamber Troupe, he participated in many plays. For example, in the first version of "Dream of the Red Chamber" in 1958, she played Wang Xifeng, in the movie "Dream of the Red Chamber" as Mandarin Duck, in "Jade Hairpin" as Lady Li, in "Meng Lijun" and yu Hong in "Female Pilot", as the queen in "Playing Golden Branch" and so on.
