Letters, also known as letters, letters, books, rulers, and codexes, are the medium and means for people to communicate messages and express emotions in traditional society. With the advent of the digital age, letters have drifted away from people. The letters of the people close to the people have been preserved to this day, and they have long been enshrined as treasures. Although a letter is small, it may involve traditional arts such as calligraphy, poetry, paper, painting, and seals, and from content to form, it is always and everywhere infiltrated with the taste and taste of the literati. Letter after letter, precipitating the years, conveying warmth, tasting the books is always an elegant artistic enjoyment. However, the etiquette, customs, and habits reflected in the letters of the neighbors are gradually becoming unfamiliar to the present, and it is very necessary to study the rules and habits of writing the letters of the close people and become familiar with the cultural implications, which are very necessary for the collation of documents and historical studies involving modern figures.

How the Southern Song Dynasty Taoists of beijing | "governed the country and the world"

When: 19:00, Tuesday, June 15

Venue: Conference Room 208, Jingyuan Second Courtyard, Peking University, No. 5 Summer Palace Road, Haidian District

Speaker: Fang Chengfeng (Associate Professor, Department of History, Tsinghua University)

How did "Taoism" as a thought influence the history of the Southern Song Dynasty? Scholars have noted the activities of The Taoists as a political force in the southern Song Dynasty court, and also the role played by the Taoists in the local education and construction. However, how to translate The Taoist proposition of "governing the country and the world" into concrete practice and how to influence the fate of the Southern Song Dynasty is still a topic that needs to be deepened. Starting from the concept of the "Tao of Grace", this lecture attempts to show that the question of wealth and profit is as much a core concern of Taoism as the problem of mind. On this basis, the lecture takes Jiangnan East Road in the late Southern Song Dynasty as an example, showing the efforts made by Taoists in tax reduction and reduction, and also tries to link it with the implementation of the Public Land Law at the end of the Southern Song Dynasty. The ideas and practices of Taoism profoundly influenced the means and outcomes of the southern Song Dynasty's military finances. The impact of Taoism on the political world at different levels, such as the Southern Song Dynasty and the local military and government, was therefore quite differentiated.

Shanghai | talked about Taoist thought

When: June 12 (Sat) 14:00

Venue: Lecture Hall, 2nd Floor, West District, Shanghai Library, No. 1555 Middle Huaihai Road, Xuhui District

Speaker: Yang Guorong (Librarian, Shanghai Research Museum of Culture and History, Professor, Department of Philosophy, East China Normal University)

Tao is the basic category of Chinese philosophy and the key to our quest for Chinese wisdom. The Tao refers to both the Tao of Heaven and humanity. The Way of Heaven refers to the laws of the universe and nature, and humanity refers to ideals and norms. Although traditional Chinese thought has thought about the Tao, only the Taoists have formed the Tao into the theme of their own thought. The Tao, and the Taoism that revolves around the question of the Tao, is at the heart of Lao Tzu's thought. "It's very good, it's very good." In Lao Tzu philosophy, the Tao is both the principle of existence and the way of existence. As the principle of existence, the Tao transcends the perceptual stipulations and is understood as real existence; and as the origin of existence, the Tao has no specific provisions, so it is understood as "nothing." In the last lecture of this "Forum on Literature and History", Yang Guorong, professor of the Department of Philosophy of East China Normal University, will talk about Taoist thought and explain the inner context of Taoist thought and its rich spiritual connotation.
