The Chinese Navy's anti-ship missiles were gradually started on the basis of the introduction of the SS-N-2 "Styx" anti-ship missiles in the late 1950s, and the development direction of the Chinese Navy's implementation of the coastal defense strategy and the "air, submarine, and fast" development direction of the main combat equipment is in line with the development.
Initially, the successful imitation of the "Seahawk"-1 anti-ship missile was equipped in the form of a 3-piece package on the 051 series destroyers of the Chinese Navy; the successful imitation of the "Upstream" -1 anti-ship missile was equipped on the 053H series frigates of the Chinese Navy in the form of a double package.

The "SeaHawk" series and the "upstream" series of anti-ship missiles, their appearance, size and technical performance are similar, and they have become the main anti-sea strike weapons and equipment for all surface combat ships such as guided missile boats, destroyers and frigates of the Chinese Navy.
The volume and weight of these missiles are extremely large, and the launch tube adopts a rotary twin and triple mount, which is installed in the position of the originally designed rotary torpedo tube, and the Type 021 and Type 024 missile boats are arranged in a Soviet-style single-tube fixed forward-facing arrangement.
The Type 01 frigate, the introduction of the Type 07 destroyer (originally called the lightning strike ship), removed the original torpedo tube, installed a double "upstream" -1 anti-ship missile, and upgraded from artillery torpedo frigates and destroyers to guided missile frigates and guided missile destroyers.
Since the late 1980s, the Chinese Navy has taken the lead in equipping the 053H2 frigate 535 ship with the "Eagle Strike"-8 anti-ship missile, and the launch tube is no longer a twin or triple rotary launcher that can be continuously reused by cramming the missile into a crane, but a one-time hoisting on the ship, and after the anti-ship missile is finished, the launch tube is discarded as a missile storage and launch integration device.
"Eagle Strike" -8, from the beginning of the design, took into account the sea, air and common, with the characteristics of the Western "Flying Fish" anti-ship missile small medium-range anti-ship missile, the use of folding wings, reducing the cross-sectional size,
Not only is the "Eagle Strike" -8's projectile size small, but also the weight is also light, the payload condition of a single anti-ship missile is only 1/3 of the "SeaHawk"/"Upstream", and the equipment adaptation performance on the ship is obviously more than that of the "Seahawk"/"Upstream".
Since the 1990s, the "Eagle Strike"-8 anti-ship missile has been widely equipped on the Chinese Navy's 053H2, 053H2G, 053H1G and other frigates, 052-type and 051B destroyers, 037G1/G2 guided missile frigates, etc., and in the transformation of new warships and old ships.
The first ship of the Type 053H2 frigate, the 535 ship, initially adopted a smaller Size and Weight Ribbed Magazine in the French style; the same type of 536 Ship and 537 Ship were changed to uncoordinated magazines, which was conducive to the dense installation of multiple launch boxes on a single bracket.
Since then, the 053HIG type frigate has changed the twin-mounted "upstream" -1 anti-ship missile to two groups of 4-pack "Eagle Strike"-8 anti-ship missiles, which has become the standard anti-ship missile of the 053H3 type frigate; while the 053H2G frigate adopts two groups of 3-group "Eagle Strike"-8 anti-ship missiles, which are very rare in the Chinese Navy.
In addition, the destroyers in the 051 series of the Chinese Navy, 109 ships, 110 ships, 165 ships, etc., also replaced the 2 3-seat "Seahawk" -1 modified anti-ship missiles with 4 groups of 4-in-one "Eagle Strike"-8 anti-ship missiles (later changed to "Eagle Strike-83"), and realized the loading of 16 anti-ship missiles with two decks, becoming the destroyer with the most violent output to the sea among the destroyers of the Chinese Navy.
The "Eagle Strike"-8 anti-ship missile, the opening of the launch box, pointing forward and sideways, respectively. The subsequent improvement of the 053H series frigates uses two 3- or 4-in-pack forward lateral launchers, allowing the anti-ship missiles of the Chinese Navy frigates to increase from the previous 4 "upstream" -1 to 6-8 "Eagle Strike" -8.
The destroyers used two 4-in-packs or 4-in-4 launchers, which increased from the original 6 "Seahawk"-1 anti-ship missiles to 8 or 16 "Eagle Strike"-8 anti-ship missiles, which significantly enhanced the sea firepower strike.
At present, the main 054/054A and 056/056A frigates of the Chinese Navy are equipped with "Eagle Strike"-83 anti-ship missiles, the Type 052C destroyers are equipped with "Eagle Strike" -62 anti-ship missiles, and some of the destroyers that have been modified and upgraded, such as the 051B Type 167 ship, the Hyundai class 956E destroyer 136 ships, and the 137 ships are equipped with the "Eagle Strike" -12 heavy anti-ship missiles that fly throughout Mach 4.
As the latest 052D/052DL type and 055 055 million ton large drive of the Chinese Navy, it is equipped with the "Eagle Strike" -18 anti-ship missile of subsonic + supersonic "double mode" flight, and adopts shipboard vertical launch, which improves the missile's response ability to attack sea targets.
The Eagle Strike-18 anti-ship missile, stored and launched using a shipboard vertical launcher, is clearly ahead of western navies. At present, the anti-ship missiles of the Western Navy still use the traditional ship deck tilt launch, single tube, double, 4-part launcher.
The evolution of the Chinese Navy's anti-ship missiles from "Seahawk", "Upstream", and "Eagle Strike" is actually the process of the Chinese Navy's anti-ship missile launch method and the continuous improvement of missile performance, and it is also a sign of the enhancement of the Anti-Ship Capability of the Chinese Navy.
From the rotary type of the missile launcher, to the fixed surface of the ship, and then to the storage and launch of the missile into the shipboard vertical launcher, the launch method of China's anti-ship missiles has achieved rapid launch and improved the comprehensive capability of naval warfare.
In the way anti-ship missiles are launched, the Chinese Navy has clearly ahead of the surface ships of the Western Navies, and this progress is tremendous, reflecting the tireless pursuit of the Chinese military industry, and finally bearing fruitful fruits, which is worthy of the heartfelt joy of Chinese military fans.
