At present, the total area of pear cultivation in China is about 1.1127 million hectares, and the total output is about 18.7049 million tons, accounting for 68.71% of the total area of pears in the world and 68.42% of the total output, which is the third largest fruit in China after apples and citrus. Pear is an important fruit tree cultivated worldwide, and has been cultivated in China for more than 3,000 years. There are two broad categories of cultivated pears in the world:
China, Japan, South Korea and other Asian countries are dominated by oriental pears, the fruit is mainly round, a few are oval; its flesh is crunchy and juicy, the taste is sweet and crisp, and it can be eaten after the tree is ripe. After the unremitting efforts of 3 generations of scientists, on the basis of cultivating 2 generations of red-skinned pear "red crisp", using the distant hybrid multi-gene polymerization technology, the new varieties of 3 generations of red-skinned pears that have inherited the advantages of the 2nd generation of red-skinned pears and overcome their shortcomings have been cultivated, such as red crisp honey, Danxia red, red crisp treasure, early red jade, red agate, early red honey, etc.
