From July 15th to 16th, the "National Characteristic Vegetable Industry Technology System Kunming Comprehensive Experimental Station Lotus Root Varieties Exhibition" sponsored by the Institute of Horticultural Crops of Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences was held in Chengjiang City.
At the meeting, Bao Rui, associate researcher of the Institute of Horticulture of the Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and Chen Chun, director of the Chengjiang Jingzuo Station, made reports on "aquatic vegetable production in Yunnan Province" and "development of lotus root industry in Chengjiang City" respectively. The participants visited the demonstration base of the new lotus root variety and the lotus powder processing plant.
In recent years, the Kunming Comprehensive Experimental Station of the National Characteristic Vegetable Industry Technology System has carried out demonstration and promotion of new varieties and new technologies of lotus root in Chengjiang City and Guangnan County. From the National Aquatic Vegetable Germplasm Resources Resources Garden of Wuhan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, 13 lotus root varieties were introduced, including 3 ornamental hualien and 10 edible lotus roots. Through trial seed comparison, three new varieties of lotus roots with good performance, "Elian No. 9", "Elian No. 10" and "White Jade Hairpin No. 2", which are suitable for planting in Chengjiang, have higher yields and resistance than the local lotus roots in Chengjiang. At the same time, a lotus root breeding base has been established to breed lotus roots, and the construction of new varieties of lotus roots and new technology integration demonstration points has been carried out. At present, 2 demonstration sites have been established, with a demonstration area of 1100 mu, focusing on the demonstration and promotion of integrated technologies such as new varieties, lotus field fish farming, increased application of organic fertilizer, formula fertilization, green prevention and control of pests and diseases, and pollution-free production. Through the demonstration and promotion of new varieties of lotus root and green production technology, the enthusiasm of farmers for planting has been improved, the application of pesticides and chemical fertilizers has been reduced, and the increase in farmers' production and income and rural revitalization have been effectively promoted, which has played a positive role in reducing the non-point source pollution of Fuxian Lake.
