China Consumer Daily Shanghai News (Sang Qingying reporter Liu Hao) Recently, the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Market Supervision announced the 39th issue of provincial food safety sampling information in 2021. The sampling results showed that 7 batches of products were unqualified, involving packaged drinking water, Qiandao Fuquan water, bowls, plates and refreshing radish strips.

It is understood that the sampling information involves 7 categories of products, including: biscuits, catering food, canned food, edible oil, oil and fat and its products, vegetable products, aquatic products, beverages, etc. A total of 884 batches of samples were sampled, of which 877 batches were qualified and 7 batches were unqualified.

Among them, the packaged drinking water produced and sold by Shanghai Hanhan Drinking Water Co., Ltd. (production date/batch number is 2021/7/26, specification model is 17L/barrel), packaged drinking water produced and sold by Shanghai Qinghe Beverage Co., Ltd. (production date/batch number is 2021/8/2, specification model is 18L/barrel), packaged drinking water produced and sold by Shanghai Mingleting Industry and Trade Co., Ltd. (production date/batch number is 2021/8/5, specification model is 16.8L/ barrels) and Qiandao Fuquan water (production date/batch number 2021/8/2, specification model 16.8L/barrel) produced and sold by Shanghai Chunchen Drinking Water Co., Ltd.) were detected to contain pseudomonas aeruginosa.

According to reports, Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a gram-negative bacillus-free, aerobic, with the ability to break down proteins, carbohydrates and fats, and is an important food spoilage bacterium. Widely distributed in water, air, normal people's skin, respiratory tract and intestines, etc., it is easy to survive in a humid environment, and has strong resistance to disinfectants and ultraviolet rays. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a conditional pathogen that poses a greater health risk to people with weak immunity.

The bowls of the Minyuan Food Snack Bar in Baoshan District, Shanghai and the plates of the Haoge Snack Bar in Baoshan District, Shanghai (production date/batch number 2021/8/10) were detected with coliform bacteria, and the standard value was not detectable. Coliform bacteria are one of the commonly used indicator bacteria for food contamination at home and abroad. Coliform bacteria were detected in food, suggesting contamination with pathogenic bacteria (e.g., Salmonella, Shigella, pathogenic E. coli). Coliform excess may be caused by contamination of the product from raw materials, packaging materials, personnel, equipment, etc., or improper storage and transportation conditions of the product.

In addition, the unqualified samples also included refreshing radish strips produced and sold by Shanghai Xinye Building Business Co., Ltd. (production date/batch number 2021/7/26), and the unqualified items were cyclamate (in terms of cyclohexyl aminosulfonic acid). Sodium cyclohexylsulfamate (cyclamate) is a commonly used sweetener that is 30-40 times sweeter than sucrose. It can be widely used in bread, pastries, beverages, prepared wine, pickled vegetables and preserves. Long-term excessive consumption of foods with cyclamate exceeding the standard may have a certain impact on human health.

It is reported that for the unqualified products found in the above-mentioned sampling inspection, the Shanghai Municipal Market Supervision Bureau has requested the relevant district market supervision bureau to investigate and deal with the unqualified food and its producers and operators in a timely manner, investigate and deal with them according to law, further urge the enterprises to perform their statutory obligations, and record the relevant situation in the food safety credit file of food producers and operators. The investigation and handling of the situation shall be disclosed by the district market supervision bureau responsible for the investigation and handling of the case at the place where the enterprise is located in accordance with regulations.
