Beijing News (reporter Wang Ziyang) on October 14, at the first China Nut Snack Industry Innovation Summit Forum, Wang Wenlin, deputy director of the South Asian Tropical Agricultural Sciences Research Institute of Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences, said in the report that at present, China's macadamia nuts (macadamia nuts) have the problem of lack of big data platform and no prediction and forecasting mechanism, and data collection, sharing, and basic data of the industrial chain still need to be improved.

Wang Wenlin, Institute of South Asia, Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences: The basic data of the industrial chain of the macadamia nut market needs to be improved

Macadamia nuts, also known as macadamia nuts, Queensland fruits, etc., were found in Queensland, Australia in 1857 and are also cultivated in Hawaii, USA. In the 1970s, it was named "macadamia nut" for ease of promotion. Macadamia nuts are currently the most oily tree nuts known, with unsaturated fatty acids accounting for 80%-90%.

Wang Wenlin said that in the 1990s, China began to grow macadamias, and after 2009, due to the development of the e-commerce industry, macadamias began to be promoted in a large area in China. In 2019, about 1.8 million mu of macadamia nuts were planted worldwide, with a total output of 214,000 tons, and the total global output is expected to be about 230,000 tons in 2020, of which the output in China is about 34,000 tons.

At present, macadamias are facing many problems in the Chinese market, including many varieties and miscellaneous varieties promoted in the market, low yield, and poor quality. China has introduced nearly 100 varieties from abroad, but most of them have been put into the market without trial planting in the early stage, including a large number of solid seedlings, resulting in problems of area, no yield and poor quality.

In addition, the Macadamia nuts in the Chinese market have not yet established an industrial system, and the industrial chain is not perfect. Related industries are independent in scientific research and production. There are few deep processing enterprises, single products, and few high value-added products. At present, China's macadamias are still mainly based on primary processing, and the processed products mainly include open shell fruit (open mouth smile), nuts, macadamia oil and so on.
