On September 27, 1955, in the Huairen Hall in Zhongnanhai, China, thousands of soldiers gathered together to participate in the first major award of the three armed services of the People's Liberation Army, the Army, the Navy and the Air Force. In the lobby, the medals awarded on the chests of the generals are shining, and these medals not only represent the recognition of the party and the people, but also represent the comfort of the brothers behind them.
At the award ceremony, Wu Kehua, one of the four aces of the four wilderness generals, was also awarded the rank of lieutenant general. He served as commander for five years and became famous in the Tashan War, and his family was Zhang Zhen, former vice chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Cpc Central Committee.

Wu Kehua's career as a "commander professional household" began when he was 25 years old.
Born in 1913 in An ordinary peasant family in Yiyang County, Jiangxi Province, Wu Kehua was forced to give up his education when he was young due to food and clothing problems, and a few years later, after experiencing the death of his father, he went to his hometown to work as an apprentice.
The helplessness of the proletarian people and the oppression of the feudal class thus pressed on the boy and prompted his thought to rise.
In 1928, at the age of 15, Wu Kehua seized the opportunity to join the ranks of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army the following year after following the revolutionary compatriots in his hometown to participate in the local agrarian revolutionary struggle to fight the local tyrants and divide the land, and from then on, he began his long journey of struggle in the cause of the new-democratic revolution.
In 1934, Wu Kehua followed our army to participate in the Long March, repeatedly led the team to "retrograde" to meet the enemy, almost stepped into the ghost gate several times, made outstanding contributions to covering the main force out of danger, and became a well-known member of the Red Army.
Soon after, with his heroic and fearless character and meticulous style of handling things, Wu Kehua was quickly recognized by his comrades-in-arms and also had the opportunity to study at the Red Army University. Wu Kehua, who has been given the opportunity to re-receive education, cherishes it and makes great efforts during his studies.
In this way, the dual arms of bravery and fearlessness and military strategy made Wu Kehua receive more and more leadership after graduation.
In 1937, with the outbreak of the July 7 Incident, the Chinese nation also ushered in the node of the all-out War of Resistance. On the battlefield, Wu Kehua participated in and commanded the anti-Japanese pseudo-great "sweep" and anti-stubborn operations, made many meritorious achievements, repelled the aggressors with wolf ambitions again and again, and made important contributions to consolidating and developing the Jiaodong anti-Japanese base area.
These achievements also became the cornerstone of Wu Kehua's continuous promotion on the battlefield of the war against fascist aggression, making him the deputy commander of the 5th detachment of the Shandong Column of the Eighth Route Army, the commander of the 2nd detachment, and later the deputy commander of the Jiaodong Military Region. Gradually, he undertook the heavy responsibility of encircling Jiaodong, which was a treasure land that had been snooped on by the Japanese and Soviet Unions, as well as the hostile forces of the Kuomintang for a long time.
This was Wu Kehua's first time as commander, but it was only one-fifth of his commander's career.
After the end of the war against fascism, Wu Kehua led the Shandong Army troops across the Bohai Sea and far to the northeast, successively serving as the commander of the 2nd Column of the Northeast People's Autonomous Army, the commander of the 4th Column of the Northeast Democratic Coalition Army, and other important positions, and participated in the command of the Huaihai Campaign, the Xinkailing Campaign, and the Hengbao Campaign.
Several battles not only set a precedent in the northeast battlefield of annihilating the entire division of the Kuomintang army in a single campaign, and greatly enhanced the morale of our army; they also established outstanding meritorious achievements for the national independence and liberation of Jinzhou, Guilin, and other places under the premise of winning the support and trust of the people.
In April 1949, Wu Kehua gave up the rivers and rivers in the northeast that had been liberated, and marched south to Guangxi and conquered Guilin, laying a great foundation for the cause of national independence and liberation before the founding of New China.
After the founding of New China, Wu Kehua did not stop his steps, and continued to go south, devoting himself to the cause of liberating Nan'ao Island and other islands, step by step, and completely burying the Chiang family dynasty.
In 1952, Wu Kehua served as commander of the Hainan Military Region and commander of the 43rd Army, and from 1980 to 1982, he served as the commander of the Guangzhou Military Region.
From Jinzhou in northern China to Nan'ao Island in the south of our country, the founding lieutenant general who has been inaugurated as commander five times seems to have been tireless, stepping on every inch of our country's great rivers and mountains with his own feet, measuring the longest vertical distance of the motherland, and carrying the banner of the most arduous liberation task with his own shoulders to protect every proletarian people.

He traveled through the north and south of the motherland and fought many major battles, however, the most famous was in 1948, in the Battle of Tashan In the Liaoshen Campaign, he fought in the Battle of Tashan.
In August 1948, the Northeast Field Army of the People's Liberation Army of our country gradually controlled more than 97% of the land and nearly 90% of the population in the northeast region of our country in the wake of the proletarian people.
Based on this situation, our Party seized the opportunity and immediately held an enlarged meeting of the Politburo in Xibaipo, pointing out that the current strategic situation is ripe and that it is always ready to annihilate the Kuomintang hostile forces that have been divided and compressed in different areas of the northeast one by one.
The Liaoshen Campaign officially began, and the first battle was aimed at Jinzhou.
The reason why it is set in Jinzhou is that as an important strategic place and transportation hub of the three northeastern provinces, it has an important role in connecting the armed and reserve resource forces in the northeast and north China, which means the absolute military strength of the northeast battlefield, so the Jinzhou War is particularly important.
In order to ensure the main force to capture Jinzhou, the central authorities ordered that the 4th Column of the Northeast Field Army, where Wu Kehua belonged, be sent to the Tashan area more than 30 kilometers away from Jinzhou to defend the Kuomintang troops reinforcing Jinzhou.
From the strategic position of Jinzhou alone, it can be seen that in the defensive battle of Tashan, our army is bound to face a strong enemy and have great sacrifices.
Sure enough, on October 10, in order to open the road from Tashan to Jinzhou, the Nationalist Government company sent a number of elite regiments such as the East Advance Corps and the West Advance Corps, and the weapons and equipment were even armed to the teeth, and on the first day of the confrontation, more than 5,000 bombs were dropped in this small village with only 100 households in just ten minutes, and the dense formation launched 9 charges to the Tashan position.
However, the Mistake of the Nationalist Government was to belittle the PLA's defensive strength and will to fight, and as Wu Kehua led the brothers of the Fourth Column to fight back, the enemy army was defeated again and again, and there was no land to be gained.
In this way, the Kuomintang army continued to attack, and our army also continued to suppress. Until the 13th, the angry and corrupt enemy army first launched the strength of 4 divisions to attack Tashan, and after the artillery fiercely bombarded our army's position, it dispatched the ace "death squad" known as the "Zhao Zilong Division" to attack the east side of Tashan Mountain.
In the end, after six days and nights of fierce fighting, the soldiers of our army forged the iron wall of the Tashan position with flesh and blood, and at the cost of 3570 casualties, they won the record of annihilating 6549 enemy troops, as well as the promotion of the Liaoshen Campaign and even the process of the Later Liberation War.
However, for Wu Kehua, even the greatest merit was exchanged for the sacrifice of 3570 brothers. You know, although Wu Kehua was organized and arranged to be in different places, no matter where he went, he would treat the soldiers around him as his family, and often distribute the welfare subsidies issued to him by the troops to everyone to fight for the welfare of the soldiers.
He was always like this, full of honor behind him and only a red star on his chest. And this quality also increased Wu Kehua's guilt for sacrificing his comrades-in-arms, and when he was old, he instructed his family to scatter his ashes on this land stained red by the blood of his comrades-in-arms and returned to the side of the sacrificed brothers.

Wu Kehua's selfless and fearless spirit was not only manifested in the war, but also in his contribution to the people's infrastructure construction after liberation.
In 1975, the construction of New China in all aspects was in full swing, and Wu Kehua was also dispatched by the central government to serve as the commander of the Railway Corps of the People's Liberation Army and participated in the construction of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway.
And we know that the Environment of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is harsh, the air is thin, and the population is sparse, so it is bound to be difficult to replenish materials, and the difficulty of construction is bound to be huge.
In this case, in August 1975, Wu Kehua disregarded his physical condition and dragged his 62-year-old body onto the road to kunlun mountains at an altitude of more than 3,000 meters. In this way, the old man stopped one stop at a time, while solving problems, inspecting the construction site work, and encouraging the soldiers who built the railway with the significance of railway construction.
He pointed out that the conditions in the construction of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway were indeed difficult, but if this arduous warrior did not overcome it, the people here would never be able to escape the fate of poverty. In this way, the soldiers cheered each other up and pushed forward the construction of this "poverty alleviation line" step by step.
And Wu Kehua, who was dedicated to the people, did not let go of his love for his comrades-in-arms. For example, during Wu Kehua's march all the way to Kunlun Mountain, he apologized to the soldiers after learning the news that the soldiers were not eating well because of the lack of supplies. It is your responsibility to blame yourself for poor supply on the mountain.
And Wu Kehua's selfless and fearless qualities of great love have also affected his descendants.
In awe of her father and other revolutionaries of the older generation, the daughter married Major General Zhang Xiaoyang, who had served as the director of the Foreign Chinese Academy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and Zhang Xiaoyang's father was General Zhang Zhen, former vice chairman of the Central Military Commission. The daughter of General Wu Kehua continues to carry on her father's red gene among the people who have the heart of the people.
Ye Yingjian, one of the ten marshals of our country, once commented that Wu Kehua's five commanders were the most important in the Platon Army. Indeed, Wu Kehua always did this, keeping the greatest difficulties to himself, no matter where he went, he would bear in mind the heavy responsibility of the commander and bring the beauty of democracy and freedom to the people.
As he himself said, "The commander has walked around the battlefield," and his life was like a red brick in the cause of socialist construction, moving to where all the people needed him. And he also used his actions and spirit to infect the people around him in a wordless way, and passed on his love for the motherland.
