2021 is the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, China stands at the historical intersection of the "two centenary anniversaries", and a new journey of comprehensively building a modern socialist country is about to begin.

Chinese scientists are pragmatic and selfless, and have contributed their lifelong strength to the scientific development and scientific and technological progress of the motherland! This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, so let's listen to and understand the original intentions and ideals written by scientists on the application and volunteer letter for joining the party.

Zhang Dayu

I have come to realize that only communism is the greatest ideal of mankind, that striving for this ideal all my life is the most meaningful cause of mankind, and that we are determined to contribute everything I have to the realization of this greatest ideal.

A hundred years of style, one of the founders of Chinese chemistry Zhang Dayu

---- Zhang Dayu (excerpt from the June 1960 Volunteer Letter for Joining the Party)

In his early years, he was engaged in the research of colloid chemistry and surface chemistry. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he founded the Lidian Chemical Factory in Yiliang, Yunnan Province, engaged in low-temperature dry distillation of lignite. In the early 1950s, the first petroleum research institute was established to carry out basic research on the processing technology and chemistry of petroleum, shale oil and coal. In the 1960s, the Lanzhou Petroleum Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Shanxi Institute of Coal Chemistry were established, which promoted the development of scientific undertakings in the mainland. He led scientific research in the fields of catalysis, chromatography, chemical laser and chemical engineering, and promoted the progress of China's petroleum refining, petrochemical, fertilizer industry, and high-energy fuels, led the research and development of a new process for the purification of synthetic ammonia raw material gas, reaching the international advanced level at that time.

One of the founders of Chinese catalytic science, he once said that he had three things in his life that he never forgot: one was molecular screening, the second was the catalyst library, and the third was the study of surface bonds. The "surface bond theory" he proposed has achieved brilliant results in guiding practice; he formed China's first petroleum and coal research base; he laid the foundation for China's large-scale new energy research and filled many gaps in national chemical research at that time. He is zhang Dayu, a famous physical chemist and one of the founders of Chinese catalytic science.
