Xiang Wenbo, president of Sany Heavy Industry, said in an exclusive interview with China Securities News a few days ago: "Becoming a brand recognized and accepted by consumers internationally is our goal. Now the achievements are more reflected in the scale, and there is still a way to go to become a truly world-class brand. "I hope that after three to five years of hard work, we will rebuild a Sany Heavy Industry overseas."

There is still a large market space for excavators

On May 30, a reporter from China Securities News walked into Sany Heavy Industry's industrial park in Shanghai's Linhai. There are not too many workers in the excavator production plant area of The Linhai Industrial Park, which has entered the era of automated production, accompanied by the sound of machine operation, every link on the production line is operating in an orderly manner.

Hu Qi, general manager of Sany Heavy Machinery Excavation Company, told China Securities News: "Our production line here can do a 5-minute off-line excavator at the fastest time, and we will decide our production volume according to the needs of customers." At present, the excavator production capacity of Sany Heavy Industry Lingang Industrial Park is 50,000 units per year, and the sales scale has reached 12.6 billion yuan in 2020, and the sales area covers more than 80 countries and regions such as China, the United States, Brazil, Southeast Asia and Africa.

"We have become the number one excavator manufacturer in China for ten consecutive years." Hu Qi said that in 2020, Sany Heavy Industry excavator sales topped the world list, and every production line in Linhai Industrial Park was indispensable.

In the face of the company's eye-catching achievements, Xiang Wenbo is proud and grateful: "In the case of being affected by the epidemic last year, Sany Heavy Industry created the best results in history. This achievement should first be achieved thanks to the efforts made by the country in the fight against the epidemic, otherwise it would be impossible to achieve such a goal. Secondly, the increase in our market share last year also benefited from the support of the government. In order to cope with the impact of the global epidemic on China, China has implemented the 'six guarantees and six stability', increased investment in infrastructure construction, and created a better market demand for us. ”

At the same time, Xiang Wenbo said that machine substitution has also increased market demand for the company's excavators. "On the one hand, China's labor force, especially the labor force of the traditional urban infrastructure industry, is decreasing as a whole; on the other hand, the promotion of new rural construction has also changed the way of farming, and machines have gradually replaced labor. The excavator is essentially a working robot, a tool, very versatile. ”

Xiang Wenbo believes that there is still a large market space for excavators in the future. "The construction machinery industry has entered a trough period since 2012. Behind this trough period is China's economy in the gear shift period, is shifting from high-speed development to high-quality development, so there is a 5-year adjustment. In the future, I don't think the construction machinery industry will go through the same downturn cycle as before. On the one hand, the country's macroeconomic policy is stable, although the market will have some fluctuations, but there will be no previous large decline; on the other hand, the process of replacing labor by machine has just begun, and there is still a lot of market space for excavators as a tool. ”

Accelerate digital transformation only once and for all

"Sany Heavy Industry is currently facing two major development opportunities, one is the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and the other is the digital transformation of traditional enterprises." Talking about the future, Xiang Wenbo believes that Sany Heavy Industry should firmly grasp these two major development opportunities.

Xiang Wenbo said that the sales volume of Sany Heavy Industry excavators can be the first in the world and China's economic and social development is inseparable. "The high-quality development of China's economy has provided us with a huge market demand. In 2020, 90% of our excavator sales will come from the domestic market, not the international market. In the process of realizing the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, this market will continue to expand. ”

At the same time, Xiang Wenbo proposed that the digital transformation of traditional enterprises is a matter of "either turning over or overturning the ship". He believes that digitalization, intelligence and electrification are reconstructing the global economic system, the threshold of traditional manufacturing continues to decrease, and Sany's heavy work is a traditional enterprise, and it must complete digital transformation.

"Without digital transformation, we will 'capsize' and be eliminated." But at the same time, it also brings us an opportunity to 'turn over', and if it is done well, Sany Heavy Industry will be more powerful. Xiang Wenbo described a vision of Sany Heavy Industry during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period to China Securities News: Sany Heavy Industry's sales will exceed 300 billion yuan, blue-collar workers will be reduced to 3,000, and engineers will be increased to 30,000.

"In the future, the traditional part of manual labor will be replaced by machines, and it is not blue-collar workers who really complete the manufacturing task, but engineers." Algorithm engineers, system engineers, etc. reconstruct traditional manufacturing systems, R&D systems, and management systems. The difference between informatization and digitalization is that in the future, the operation of digital companies will be driven by digital and rely on machines to make accurate decisions. Xiang Wenbo further explained.

Xiang Wenbo believes that carbon peaking and carbon neutrality are also a big opportunity for Sany Heavy Industry. "To achieve carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, we must start from the new energy side, so electrification is a new track for us. We are confident that we can run better than others and faster than others on this track. ”

Become a world-class enterprise

Although Sany Heavy Industry has achieved the world's first place in excavator sales, Xiang Wenbo believes that Sany Heavy Industry's road has just begun. "Our goal is to become a world-class enterprise, but at present, we have only achieved the first place in scale, and we are not really a world-class enterprise in the true sense."

In Xiang Wenbo's eyes, world-class large enterprises need to have not only the leading position in scale, but also the brand to be recognized by the world. "The first emphasis is on service first. Customers buy from us not only a product, but also a set of standardized, honest brand services. Xiang Wenbo said.

At present, Sany Heavy Industry has branches in more than 100 countries and regions around the world. Among them, more than 400 service points have been built in China, and the coverage rate of prefecture-level administrative districts is close to 100%, and service coverage has been achieved in more than 2,800 county-level and 640,000 administrative villages. Sany Heavy Industry's service has achieved "a quarter of an hour to reply, an hour to start, a one-time repair", and such an ultimate "everything for the customer" service concept, the future will follow the pace of Sany Heavy Industry all over the world.

In addition, Sany Heavy Industry put forward the strategic idea of "taking me as the mainstay and operating locally" in the process of internationalization. "'Me-based' means that the first person in charge of the overseas team must be Chinese, and 'local management' means that the members of the international team are all local."
