Chapter 1 Reflections on Spirit and Style

1, the more a person has thoughts, the more people find personality. Ordinary people can't see the difference between people.

2) When we want to effectively correct someone and point out that he has made a mistake, we must consider from which side he is observing things, because on his side things are usually true; we must admit to him the truth on his side, but also tell him the wrong side of the matter.

3, people are generally more likely to be persuaded by their own discovery of the truth, and less likely to be persuaded by the reasons that others have come up with in their heads.

4. Eloquence is an art of telling things, and it is necessary to do: first, the person who listens to the lecture can listen to these things easily and happily; second, they feel that they are interested, so that self-love makes them more willing to think about what they hear.

5) We must keep ourselves as natural as possible; if it is small, do not exaggerate, and if it is large, do not shrink. It is not enough for a thing to be beautiful, it must also be closely related to the topic, no more, no less.

6) When people do not understand the truth of things, it is best to have a common mistake to fix people's thoughts, because the greatest ill of human beings is to have an uneasy curiosity about things they cannot understand; instead of maintaining that futile curiosity, it is better to let him make some mistakes, not so bad.

7) Since we can't understand everything and understand everything we can, we should understand everything. For it is much better to know everything than to know everything about a certain thing; this profundity is the most beautiful.
