The "Four Proverbs" is a moral precept developed by the Song Dynasty master Cheng Yi based on Confucius's "Analects of Yan Yuan XII", "Do not look at incivility, do not listen to incivility, do not speak in incivility, and do not move". The "Four Proverbs" was once the collection of the Qianlong, Jiaqing, and Xuantong Imperial Palaces in the Qing Dynasty, and in 1922, the last emperor Puyi "appreciated Pujie" and was taken to the Imperial Palace. It was purchased in 1965 at the expense of the Palace Museum.

Shen Du, a Calligrapher of the Ming Dynasty, was good at calligraphy such as seals, li, kai, and xing, and his brother Shen Cang was good at calligraphy, hidden in the secret house, and was known as "the pavilion style is the representative figure of the Ming Dynasty Taige style calligraphy." For this reason, his xiaokai became an object of emulation by people and scholars in the officialdom. Its small strokes are elegant and light, the inside of the knot is tight, the outside is longitudinal, dignified and elegant.
