In the first year of Tianbao in the Tang Dynasty, Master Jian Zhen was invited by the Japanese monk Rong Rui and others to take his disciples to Japan to teach the Fa. The ships were all ready, just waiting for the day to travel, but at this moment, one of his disciples named Nengjing suddenly died.

When the news came, Jian Zhen was shocked, and he followed the disciples who came to report to the seashore, only to see the body on the beach not far from the boat. Before I traveled, something like this happened, and Jian Zhen couldn't help but frown.

The people of the government also heard the news and rushed to it, and after checking, they determined that Nengjing had been killed. But if you can be quiet and easy-going, who will do this?

Jian zhen was ready to take his disciples back to the temple to give Neng Jing Chaodu, but another group of officers and soldiers hurried to block their way. The leading Huainan interview made Ban Jingqian ask in a loud voice, "Who is Daohang?" One of Jian Zhen's disciples stood up in response, and as soon as Ban Jingqian waved his hand, several soldiers immediately pounced on him and tied him up tightly.

Jian Zhen asked what had happened, and Ban Jingqian said, "It is reported that Dao Hang has colluded with the pirates, and this time when he goes to sea with you, he is ready to go to them." ”

Jian Zhen was taken aback and busied himself explaining that Dao Hang was his own disciple and could not do such a thing. Ban Jingqian said solemnly, "There is no doubt that Master Dongdu has passed on the Fa, but how can you guarantee that these disciples of yours will also pay attention to virtue as much as you?" I even suspect that Noh's death was related to him! With a wave of his hand, he ordered the soldiers to search the ship of Jian Zhen Dongdu. However, the soldiers were busy for a while, but they did not find anything, and Ban Jingqian decided to take Daohang back to the official palace first.

Looking at Ban Jingqian's distant back, Jian Zhen fell into contemplation: Dao Hang has always been his proud disciple, how could he do such a thing? With this in mind, he also went to the boat.

The cabin had been turned upside down by the soldiers, just when the sun was shining through the window of the cabin and shining on the board. Jian Zhen only felt a bright light flash in front of his eyes, and there seemed to be something on the ship's board. He hurried over and crouched down to look at the smooth, round pearl in the gap between the plates. He carefully plucked the pearl out and found a small hole in the pearl that appeared to have rolled down from a string of pearls.

Jian Zhen found it very strange: everything on this ship was personally selected by himself, except for the Buddhist tools and sutra scrolls, where were there any pearl chains, and where would this pearl come from? Jian Zhen put away this pearl and was determined to investigate it to the end.

The next day, Jian Zhen came to the mansion to visit Daohang. After only one day of not seeing, Dao Hang was already emaciated, and when he saw Jian Zhen, he "pounced" and knelt on the ground and said, "Please Master Mingjian, the disciple really does not know where the disaster comes from." The disciple had already put life and death aside, but he was just worried about ruining the master's reputation, and the disciple really felt guilty! Looking at Dao Hang, Jian Zhen couldn't help but sigh, and then took the pearl out of his pocket and asked, "Have you seen this?" ”

Dao Hang looked at it and shook his head repeatedly. Seeing the truth, he didn't say anything, put away the pearl, turned around and left.

Walking out of the prison, Ban Jingqian was waiting outside the prison. Jian Zhen asked him, "Why do you think this disciple of mine is guilty?" Ban Jingqian said, "It was reported by one of your disciples, is there still a falsehood that your disciple said?" Jian Zhen glared at him, "Since that's the case, then you can execute him now, and I'll let his brothers and masters go to the execution ground to give him a ride!" ”

Therefore, Ban Jingqian ordered people to take Daohang out of the prison and send him to the guillotine. Jian Zhen also led the disciples to the execution ground.

The atmosphere on the execution ground was both solemn and tense, and the disciples did not even dare to breathe in the atmosphere. Time passed minute by minute, Jian Zhen did not speak, Ban Jingqian did not dare to give orders casually, so he stayed for nearly an hour, and finally, some disciples could not bear to be dull and restless. At this moment, Jian Zhen quietly whispered a few words to Ban Jingqian, and Ban Jingqian nodded, and then ordered the executive officer: "When the hour comes, open the chop!" Hearing the execution order, the executioner raised his knife with a "whoosh" call.

At this moment, someone on the field suddenly shouted: "Leave people under the knife, Daohang is not a pirate." Jian Zhen should go out of his way, and it was another disciple of his who spoke, Ru Hai.

Ban Jingqian asked sharply, "How do you know he is not a pirate?" ”

"I... I...... It was I who reported him indiscriminately," Ruhai's voice suddenly lowered, "I hurt him!" ”

Ban Jingqian's heart was stirred, and only then did she realize the true intention of Jian Zhen to lead the disciples to the Dharma Field. He immediately announced the cessation of executions, and escorted Daohang and Ruhai back to the palace.

Coming to the mansion, Ruhai told the truth. It turned out that one night, Ruhai went to Jian Zhen's residence to ask for advice, walked to the door, and just heard Jian Zhen and Dao Hang talking about the candidates for Dongdu, and when it came to Ru Hai, Dao Hang thought that Ru Hai was too young and it was not appropriate to accompany him this time. Ru Hai didn't expect Dao Hang to suggest such a thing, and he didn't enter Master's room in a huff, so he went back. Ruhai had always wanted to take revenge on Daohang, so he took this opportunity to secretly go to the mansion to report Daohang. However, he originally wanted to vent the hatred in his heart and let Dao hang be locked up in prison for two days, but he did not expect that the government would think that Dao Hang was a murderer. Seeing that Daohang was really about to be beheaded, Ruhai stood up.

Daohang's grievances were finally cleared, but the case of Nengjing's murder still did not progress, and Ban Jingqian said that under such circumstances, Jian Zhen's trip to Dongdu must be postponed. Jian Zhen also felt that it made sense, he thought about it, and whispered a few words to Ban Jingqian, so he asked the disciples to unload all the items on the ship and wait for the government to pull the boat away the next day.

Everything calmed down, and the night gradually darkened. Just then, a dark shadow crept up onto the empty boat, and it took a while to come out of the boat, carrying a small cloth bag with a bulging sac. The black shadow was about to slip away, when suddenly countless torches lit up around him, and it turned out that Ban Jingqian had already led the soldiers to wait here.

Everyone looked through the light of the fire, and this person was actually Huiquan, a disciple of the Japanese monk Rongrui. At the order of Ban Jingqian, the soldiers immediately stepped forward to arrest Huiquan. Hui Quan flew up and kicked the two soldiers to the ground, he turned to flee, and the soldier next to him swung a knife and slashed at the small cloth bag he was carrying. Just listen to the "whoosh" sound, and a string of jewelry chains falls out of the cloth bag. HuiQuan couldn't care less about picking up these treasures. He threw away his baggage and tried to escape again, but he was surrounded by dozens of soldiers, and finally had to tie his hands.

Originally, this Huiquan heard that there were many treasures in Datang, and he had long been thinking about it, he first worshiped Rongrui as a teacher, and then managed to follow Rongrui to Datang, worked as a monk during the day, and became a thief at night, stealing a lot of jewelry. But how do you get these things back? Just when Rong Rui invited Jian Zhen to Japan to teach the Fa, he hid the stolen jewels on the ship first. I didn't expect to be seen by Nengjing when I was hiding, so I killed Nengjing. Of course, he did not expect that a pearl would fall to the ground during the battle, nor did he expect that the government would not let Jian Zhen travel because he could be killed, and even the ships of Dongdu would be recovered. In a hurry, he had to retrieve the cloth bag before the ship was pulled away...

As for Jian Zhen, since he found the falling pearl, he concluded that someone wanted to smuggle jewels during the East Crossing, but he believed that his disciples would not do such ugly things, so he deliberately provoked Ban Jingqian to cut off Daohang and clear the charges for Daohang first; Jian Zhen was convinced that the man's hidden things must still be on the ship, so he gave Ban Jingqian an idea, and asked the government to pretend to confiscate the Dongdu ship, so as to lure out the people who stole the jewels.

Speaking of Rong Rui, when he knew that his disciple had done such a thing, he felt guilty and rushed to apologize to Jian Zhen overnight. Jian Zhen comforted him and said, "There are thousands of Buddhist disciples, and no one can guarantee that everyone is sincere and kind, so we must do our best to teach the Fa to Shu De!" ”
