Xu Ying is known as the "Beidou Goddess", and in 2019, she was hired as the image ambassador of "Science Popularization China" together with Yang Liwei, the first generation of Chinese astronauts. She began to contact Beidou-related projects at the master's stage, and she has her presence behind the Beidou 2 generation application, the beidou 3 generation networking satellite launch and the Beidou PNT system demonstration.
"People's Daily" once published an article saying that science popularization needs more "Xu Ying". But what is less known is that she is not a prestigious undergraduate, she is funny, broad-minded, she looks forward to space travel, and she is particularly concerned about her hairline.
<h1>First, Xu Ying before the college entrance examination</h1>
Xu Ying was born in Meishan, Sichuan in 1983 (a digression: the famous double-first-class, 985 university Sichuan University recently officially decided to enter Meishan and set up a campus here). Her mother is a math teacher, her father works at an agricultural technology station, and when she was a child, Xu Ying was basically not constrained by her parents, whether it was study or life, her independence was very strong.
Xu Ying, who has relatively good grades in science in high school, fantasizes about becoming a scientist (there is a foreshadowing here, and she has never lost her love of fantasy). In 1999, at the age of 16, Xu Ying took the college entrance examination and was admitted to the Communication Engineering Major of the Beijing Institute of Information Engineering, and she came to Beijing from Sichuan.
The name beijing institute of information engineering disappeared in 2003, when it merged with the Beijing Institute of Mechanical Engineering to become the current Beijing Information Science and Technology University. This university is not 985, not 211, nor has it been selected as a double first-class, in Beijing, which is full of famous universities, it is just a very ordinary existence.
It can be seen that life always has surprises, ordinary undergraduate colleges and universities have not stopped the growth of the Beidou goddess, life is not an exam, a school can decide, only non-stop learning, non-stop thinking, continuous growth, continuous challenge, in order to usher in their own life glory.

When Xu Ying was studying, the Beijing Information Science and Technology University did not have a research qualification. In 2003, through her own efforts, she was admitted to the Beijing Institute of Technology Signal and Information Processing Master's and Doctoral Studies (6 years), and in 2009, she successfully graduated and joined the Institute of Optoelectronics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, starting her career as an assistant researcher.
Interestingly, after graduating from her doctorate, she once went to an interview at a company, and when she heard the interviewer say that female students were not suitable for scientific research, Xu Ying was angry on the spot: there is no gender that is not suitable for scientific research, only people who are not suitable for scientific research.
In 2015, at the age of 32, Xu Ying officially became the youngest doctoral supervisor of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. She always believes that beidou should not be high above, and beidou should let more Chinese people know and understand. Therefore, she has become the "science popularization responsibility" of Beidou. In 2016, her popular science videos became popular. Since then, she has been praised by people's dailys, and has also become the deputy director of the navigation technology office of the Institute of Optoelectronics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the image ambassador of "Science Popularization China".
<h1>Third, a different doctoral supervisor</h1>
Xu Ying wants to do scientific research, but also to do science popularization, but also to bring students. Some of the students she brought in her early days were only three or four years younger than her, and in the eyes of the students, she was a "strict but not serious" teacher. Compared with the mentor, it seems that he is more like a "master sister", who has no shelf and is willing to mingle with everyone.
There are always people who say that "strict teachers produce high disciples" and "strict teachers" are not cold and frosty with a straight face, but in terms of academic excellence and strict requirements. The "near" and "warm" in life, the "strict" and "harsh" in academics, can coexist in a teacher.

When talking about the view of 2020, Xu Ying said: The Beidou system completed the final battle in 2020, officially built the Beidou-3 system, from China's Beidou to the world's Beidou, we also especially hope that in 2020, the Beidou system will shift from the construction stage to the application and promotion stage, after this milestone node, what surprises will the Beidou system bring to us, let us especially look forward to.
When talking about the outlook for 2035, Xu Ying said: I hope that I can still stick to my job. Being able to continue to do something useful for the country and the people. More importantly, of course, is that my hair is still firm. Personally, I am looking forward to autonomous driving, new infrastructure and Beidou and 5G applications. They can bring us a lot of unexpected lifestyle changes.
She believes that after the completion of the Beidou system, it is necessary to focus on promoting the construction of China's national PNT system, that is to say, on the basis of the completion of the Beidou, build a navigation positioning and timing system with Beidou as the core and can cover underwater, underground, indoor and other areas. It is hoped that by 2035, the PNT system has been completed and has begun to be widely used in various industries of national economy and people's livelihood.
She also hopes to be able to participate in this space trip in 2035, and jokes that the ticket price cannot be too expensive, not beyond her acceptance, and she must buy a round-trip ticket, one-way ticket is not acceptable.
