Wang Jinxi: An iron man who offers oil to the motherland

In 2009, Wang Jinxi was elected as one of the "100 Chinese Objects That Have Touched Since the Founding of New China". Won the title of "The Most Beautiful Strivers" and "National Labor Model".

Wang Jinxi was born in October 1923 in Yumen County, Gansu Province. At the age of 15, he went to work as a child laborer at the Yumen Oil Mine. After the founding of New China, he worked in the Yumen drilling team and joined the Communist Party of China in 1956. He has successively served as a driller, drilling division and drilling team leader, the leader of the second drilling brigade of the drilling headquarters, and the deputy commander of the drilling command.

In September 1958, he led the 1205 drilling team to set the latest record of 5009 meters per month; in 1959, he set the latest national record of 71,000 meters drilled per year. In the same year, as a representative of the 1205 drilling team, Wang Jinxi attended the National Heroes' Meeting and participated in the National Day ceremony for the 10th anniversary of the founding of New China.

In March 1960, Wang Jinxi led the 1205 drilling team from Yumen to Daqing. He led the whole team to break the drilling rig equipment weighing more than 60 tons into pieces, and used the method of human shoulder-to-shoulder to unload the drilling rig and equipment from the train and transport it to the Sa 55 well near Majiayao for installation. Because the water pipeline has not yet been connected and there are few tankers, Wang Jinxi led the workers to break the ice nearby blisters to get water, and used the basin to take more than 50 tons of water to ensure that the Sa 55 well was officially drilled. Hungry, nibble a few bites of the frozen nest head; sleepy, wrapped in an old sheepskin jacket to take a nap... Through the joint efforts of the whole team of workers, it took only 5 days and 4 hours to complete the first production well on the oil field.

After the first well was drilled, Wang Jinxi was hit by a drill pipe rolling down the drill pipe and injured his foot, and passed out at that time; but he woke up and continued to work. The leader took him to the hospital, and he ran from the hospital to the well site of the second well (well 2589), and directed the drilling of the well on both crutches; when he drilled about 700 meters, a sudden blowout occurred. There is no barite powder for pressing wells in the well site, and after research, it was decided to use cement to increase the density of the mud and press the blowout. Cement was added to the mud pool to sink to the bottom, and there was no mixer, Wang Jinxi threw away the crutch, jumped into the mud pool, and stirred the mud with his body; other comrades also jumped into the mud pool, and finally suppressed the blowout and saved the drilling rig and oil well.

In July 1960, Wang Jinxi was named one of the "Five Red Flags" in the whole theater. In 1964, Wang Jinxi was elected as a deputy to the Third National People's Congress. In the spring of 1969, Wang Jinxi was elected as a deputy to the Ninth National Congress of the Communist Party of China and was elected as a member of the Central Committee.

In April 1970, he was diagnosed with stomach cancer and died in November of the same year at the age of 47. "I'd rather live twenty years less and desperately want to win the big oil fields." Wang Jinxi dedicated his life to the oil industry of the motherland and always practiced his oath.
