3. Fan Ruoshui or Fan Ruobing?

When Wang Liqun, a professor historian at Henan University, talked about the history of the Song Dynasty in CCTV's "Hundred Family Forums," he often talked about Fan Ruobing, who was actually Fan Ruoshui. At the time I didn't know why a university scholar made such a low-level mistake. Later, looking at the history of Song and other books, I found that whether it was Fan Ruoshui or Fan Ruobing, there were different theories. At this time, I knew the reason why Professor Wang had made a mistake.

There is a passage in the Song Shi Fan Zhi Ancient Biography, "Emperor Taizong ascended the throne and was summoned." Zhigu's original name was Ruoshui, the character Shuqing, because of the summons, the question was asked: "What book is the name of the Qing?" "Tang Shangshu's right hand, Ni Ruoshui, is bright and straight, and the courtiers are secretly admiring it." Shangxiao said: "You can change the name to 'Zhigu''. Zhiguton was the first to be commanded. Ni Ruoshui's real name is "Ruo Bing", he knows the ancients and learns shallowly, and he is vainly quoted, and everyone laughs at it. ”

I checked it out, and this minister of the Tang Dynasty was indeed named Ni Ruoshui, not Ni Ruobing. There are two possibilities here, either the Song dynasty is wrong, or the Song Taizu is wrong.

Song Renzong's "Fishing Rock Standing Talk" during the Tiansheng Period (1023--1031) records, "Since Fan Ruobing took the yin affairs and lost them to the Heavenly Dynasty, the people of the country hated them, entered the bone marrow, and sent their bones into the river." ”

The Jade Kettle Qinghua was written in 1078 and recorded that "knowing the old name ruobing, Taizu changed it because of his voice as a weak soldier." ”

Su Shi's "Dongpo Zhilin" records that "the Lord was sold by Fan Ruoshui, the whole country and the people, so when he wept outside the Nine Temples, thanked his people and then went, Gu Nai waved tears at the palace, and listened to the song of the church!" "Dongpo Zhilin" was written between 1078 and 1098.

And Yang Jie, an Anhui wuren who was a contemporary of Su Shi, wrote in the poem "QuarryIng Four Songs and Four Fan Ruobing" that "soldiers descend to Jinling, and Ruo Bing's strategy is unparalleled." Since providence has returned to Allah, why should the boat start to cross the river. ”

Lu You wrote in 1170 the Book of Entering Shu, in which "At the beginning, Wang Shiping Nan Tang ordered Cao Bin to divide his troops from Jingzhou down the river to the east, with Fan Ruobing as the township guide, the first Kechi Prefecture, and then he could take Wuhu, Dangtu, garrison quarrying, and pontoon bridges." Then Chizhou is now a real place, and it must not be prepared. "Lu Youzhi has the History of the Southern Tang Dynasty, indicating that Lu You has a detailed study of the history of the Southern Tang Dynasty.

In the Twelfth Chronicle of the Southern Song Dynasty's "Records of being Able to Change the Zhai Man", there is an article that reads "Fan Ruoshui destroyed his home according to the amount of wine he hated", the original text was "Fan Ruoshui, a Jiangnan person." Poor, wandering, the townspeople are not polite. After traveling north, build a pontoon bridge to quarry stones to cross the heavenly soldiers. Jiang Nanping, promoted to the transfer envoy of this road. The house of the enemy, the fang opens the winery. Fan Nai sold a lot of wine on the new year's day, according to his income. His family sits on the loser and loses, and the family is ruined. ”

The "Continuation of the Zhizhi Tongjian Long Edition" has "Ruo Bing Biography", indicating that it is Fan Ruo bing.

In June of the second year of the Southern Song Dynasty (1279), Wen Tianxiang was escorted to Dadu, passing through quarrying, and the poem "Quarry" mentioned Fan Zhigu, "Not on the moth eyebrow twenty years old, come back to tears for the fallen mountains and rivers." Today's people do not see Yu Yunwen, the ancients once had Fan Ruoshui. ”

Judging from the above historical materials, some use Fan Ruoshui, and some use Fan Ruobing.

But as I refer to more and more information, there are several documents that are more authoritative, and the writing is Fan Ruoshui, which is still more correct. One is that the official compilation of documents of the Song Dynasty, the "Compilation of The Drafts of the Song Society", the "Records of Emperor Taizong of Song", and the "Book of Southern Tang" of Ma Shi all use Fan Ruoshui. The "Song Hui To Compile The Manuscript" records that "Taizu Kaibao was born in December of the third year of the third year, and gave the counselor Fan Ruoshui jinshi. The second Southern Song Dynasty Wuju Huayue's writings also use Fan Ruoshui, as a fellow countryman, the possibility of making a mistake is small. Third, there is more important information, that is, Fan himself believes that it is called Fan Ruobing or Fan Ruoshui. See Fan's signature at the end of the preface to the Chizhou Cao family tree is Fan Ruoshui.

The correct name is Fan Ruoshui, and Fan Ruobing is wrong.
