Song Ping, a 101-year-old member of the Standing Committee, wrote the preface to Liu Yuan's new book

The book invites Song Ping, an old comrade in the party, to write a preface. Song Ping said in the preface, "Comrade Liu Yuan's book recounts many touching stories of the revolutionary career of his father, Comrade Liu Shaoqi, and reading it makes people feel that the glorious course traveled by the party leading the people was not easy to come by, and it is even more worth cherishing." ”

Liu Yuan said in an exclusive interview with "Political Affairs" (WeChat ID: xjbzse), "Song is over a hundred years old and is now in good health. I also went to Hainan to meet him during the Spring Festival this year. Every time I saw me in the past few years, Elder Song would talk about how he had asked Liu Shaoqi to give a lecture on "On the Cultivation of Communist Party Members." So I asked him to write the preface. ”

The following is the full text of Song Ping's preface:

Comrade Shaoqi is a great Marxist, a great proletarian revolutionary, statesman, theoretician, and one of the principal leaders of the Party and the state. Comrade Shaoqi devoted his life's energy to the great cause of China's revolution and construction and established immortal merits. I listened to his lectures during my time in Yan'an, and after the founding of New China, I worked under his leadership, so I was deeply educated and influenced by him, and I used it all my life.

In the winter of 1935, I participated in the "12.9" student anti-Japanese salvation movement in Beiping. The underground party organization led by Comrade Shaoqi held high the banner of the anti-Japanese national united front, corrected the mistake of closing doors within the party, and set off a new upsurge of anti-Japanese national salvation. I went with other young students to the Fengtai camp of the Twenty-ninth Army of the Kuomintang to propagate the anti-Japanese resistance, teach and sing the "March of the Great Knife", and learn basic military skills. After the "July 7 Incident," the Party organization of the Northern Bureau led by Comrade Shaoqi issued a call to "take off his robe and go to the rear of the enemy." I went to the front line of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression together with other young students, strengthened the anti-Japanese armed forces, and received enthusiastic support from the common people.

In July 1939, when I was working at the Marxist-Leninist Academy, Comrade Shaoqi's lecture at the Marxist-Leninist Academy was unforgettable. At that time, Comrade Shaoqi returned to Yan'an from the Zhugou Central Plains Bureau to attend a meeting convened by the Central Committee and lived next door to Comrade Zhang Wentian. At the behest of Comrade Zhang Wentian, I invited Comrade Shaoqi to give a lecture at the academy, and he gladly agreed. Comrade Shaoqi's speech, which was full of profound theoretical skills and rich experience in inner-party life, aroused a warm response from the trainees. There were many people who came to listen to the lecture, and the class had to be moved from the small auditorium to the large playground, and a table was placed in front of it, and Comrade Shaoqi stood on the table to speak. After listening to it, the students were still unsatisfied, and they copied each other's notes, and I also wrote a thick book. After that, at the request of Comrade Zhang Wentian and the trainees, Comrade Shaoqi sorted out some of the speeches and published them in his busy schedule, which is the famous "On the Cultivation of Communist Party Members." This theoretical work on party building has enriched the party's theoretical treasure house and is still of great practical significance for guiding the new great project of party building today.

Comrade Liu Yuan's book recounts many touching stories of his father Comrade Shaoqi's revolutionary career, and reading it makes people feel that the glorious course that the party has led the people has not come easily, and it is even more worth cherishing. As General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out: "Everything that goes forward, we must not forget the road we have traveled; No matter how far we go, no matter how glorious the future is, we must not forget the past we have traveled, and we cannot forget why we started. "Reliving Comrade Shaoqi's glorious course and understanding the noble qualities and revolutionary spirit of a staunch old Communist Party member will enlighten and teach people in the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics to work and study."
