I'm so happy. I especially like that people give me all kinds of interesting nicknames. Recently, Jiang Hudong's eldest brother gave me the nickname of the immortal bird. It felt particularly good. I have become the immortal Xu Zhixi.
Q 'The Arts and Sports of Our Community' in basketball, taekwondo, soccer, net soccer, cycling, swimming and other sports are all kinds of sports, which one do you remember the most?
The most impressive thing is probably basketball. Because basketball is the sport I have been exposed to for the longest time, and it is also the earliest sport in 'Arts and Sports'. I am very happy that the audience can enjoy my basketball performance in 'Arts and Sports', and I have also gained various external goodies with basketball, and I can tell everyone that actor Xu Jixi is very good at sports.
Q Which is your favorite of the various shows you've participated in in the past?
In fact, every show is very good, but I still like 'the artistic fitness of our community' the most, after all, I have participated in the longest. Because it is a sports variety show, I have to invest a lot of time, prepare to record every week, and practice 6 days a week in order to prepare for the competition.
Q As the ambassador of 'Tour de Korea2015' and have a lot of affinity with bicycles, what do you think is the charm of bicycles?
Anyone who has been exposed to cycling should know about it. It was a joy and happiness in the process of riding a bicycle. Going uphill, from the thighs to the whole body, there is a painful process, and I enjoy the process, enjoying the pain and feeling that the whole body becomes relaxed. This is probably the charm of cycling.
Q Recently, the popularity of variety shows in the fields of parenting, the military, and food has been booming, but are there any variety shows that you want to challenge?
At the moment I can do food and army type shows. Parenting, because I don't have children... The way chefs have been cooking on TV lately is really stylish. I also want to show you my side of learning to cook.
Q What set you on the path of acting?
I debuted in 2000. I didn't choose to be an actor at first, I was an athlete myself, and after being injured, I quit the sports world. A very fortuitous opportunity led me to get a role and start my career as an actor with the idea that this was my last chance. It's a bit of a let go. After contacting it, I found this work very interesting, and I have been until now.
Q Which of your favorite roles has appeared in a TV series?
Yoon Ji-seok in the 'High Kick' short-legged counterattack. I have been playing the role of company manager, chairman, doctor and so on, and my childhood dream was to be a physical education teacher, and I realized my dream in 'High Kick'. Although the shooting process was hard, I enjoyed the process. Among the characters I have played, this should be the one that most resembles me.
Q In 'High Kick', Yoon Ji Seok is a very dedicated, considerate character for the woman he loves, how similar is this to you in reality?
That's why he's most like me. (Laughs) 100 percent. I'm very dedicated myself, and I like a woman's words and can give everything for her. It doesn't matter how long you love each other, what matters is that you can devote yourself to the process of love without reservation.
Q Is there a role you want to play in the future?
Actors always want to try out a variety of different roles. I want to try out the characters who slowly grow from the bottom with their own efforts, from the low points of life to the roles that try to overcome these difficulties.
Q Is there any actor you admire the most and see him as a role model?
There are actually a lot. In terms of performance, I admire Zhang Ruixi's predecessor who filmed 'Female Obstetrician and Gynecology Doctor' with me. We've been working together for 5 months and there's so much to learn from. For the first time, I felt how focused an actor was at work and how vivid his performance was.
Q Are there any respected people in the variety show?
Jiang Donghu's predecessor. How to say it, Jiang Donghu's predecessor, who originally thought he would be very fierce, was actually very gentle and delicate, and the variety show industry admired him the most.
Q Who do you have a crush on actors of other age groups?
To be honest, the current juniors are fantastic, and it is really difficult to choose one. When I was shooting 'High Kick', Lee Jong-suk, who played my nephew, was not much different in age from me, but it was my nephew in the scene, which made me feel very uncomfortable. Would love to have more contact with him and become a good friend. After the shooting of 'High Kick', he also shot a lot of works, which developed very well and was really happy for him. I hope that we will have the opportunity to work together in the future.
Q Did life change before and after marriage?
It's really happy to be able to live with someone you love. Two people living together do not feel lonely, the only drawback is that they do not have their own time anymore. Occasionally I want to stay on my own for a while, or I want to play with friends later in the evening, and now I don't have to do whatever I want. But it is the happiest thing to be able to wait for me at home with someone I love.
Q When you got married, you said you planned to have children two years after marriage, and now it's been two years.
In fact, this plan has just begun. I'm 81 years old, chicken. The year after tomorrow will be the Year of the Rooster. I still want a child who belongs to me.
Q Not long ago, you changed your brokerage company, have your plans changed in the future?
This is a new opportunity. I struggled with that for a whole year. With the mentality of starting again, I want to act well. If I have good works, I will definitely work harder.
