"Extreme Cold" should be a childhood nightmare for many people, this 1998 R-rated monster film can be described as a profound play of the horror of the tentacle monster, a series of large-scale bloody scenes have challenged many people's cognition. However, these words do reveal the source of Ottova's monster shape, that is, Ottoia. Otto worm is an invertebrate invertebrates in the gills or a type of gill troll, Otto worm also has a very affectionate name called "Tintin worm", the reason should be clear at a glance in the following picture.
Nowadays, there are not many species of this tintin, most of them live on the seabed of the North and South Poles, but in the Cambrian period 500 million years ago, there were a variety of Otto worms in the oceans, and it became the third most abundant species on the earth at that time. The shape of the Otto worm mainly provides design inspiration for Ottova's tentacles, and the more special thing about the Otto worm is that it has a "flip kiss", that is, there is a hidden mouth organ at the front of the body, which can be extended outward or retracted to hide. There is also a series of spikes around the kiss. The tip of Ottova's tentacle in the movie perfectly interprets this "turning kiss".
Otova devours the prey through this turning kiss, sucking the juice from the prey and spitting out impurities such as bones. Otto worms are generally only a few centimeters and a dozen centimeters long, but the various tentacles of the monsters in the film look tens of meters long. However, in fact, the monster body presented at the end is not much bigger, and from the comparison between it and the height of the protagonist, Ottova's height when he uses some tentacle branches to support "standing" is only about 10 meters high. If you add kraken's 30-meter-long tentacle in "Pirates of the Caribbean" reviewed two days ago, the overall length is about 40 meters, which should be smaller than this.

Ottova's head, or torso, is clearly an octopus head with a large mouth and two large eyeballs. Although Ottova's overall shape is an octopus shape, its tentacles shown in the film seem to have independent consciousness and have certain senses such as sight and hearing, respectively. It is said that the director initially wanted to make the monsters in the film into a collection of countless small octopus-shaped monsters, although the film did not adopt the concept of this "fit" monster, but retained the idea that each tentacle had a certain degree of independence.
In addition to having an independent mind, Ottova also has a high degree of intelligence, which is shown in the film to drive humans to a more suitable "eating point" to ambush.
