Brilliant feathers, wearing a white collar around the neck, dragging a long tail, when the ring-necked pheasant paced through the country meadows, probably no one would not praise a "beautiful".

Of course, the gorgeous ring-necked pheasant is just a male bird. Female ring-necked pheasants are very plainly dressed, mainly chestnut and brown, and do not have a long tail. Because it is fully responsible for the work of incubating the eggs and bringing children, the gray and dark plumage can provide it with better concealment.

Pheasant, in fact, is what we commonly call pheasant.

In the past, when the scholars visited each other, the gift chosen was the pheasant. The "White Tiger Pass" describes it as follows: "He who takes the pheasant as his beloved, takes it not to be tempted to eat, deter him from intimidation, and will not be able to live with animals. ”

The ancients believed that the pheasant was an animal that was difficult to tame and did not eat the food that came from it, which was like the character of a noble man.

Ring-necked pheasants can adapt to a variety of environments, ideally mountain scrub or hilly areas. First, these areas are more conducive to the hidden figure of the ring-necked pheasant, and secondly, these areas also have rich food resources for the ring-necked pheasant to maintain its livelihood.

They are more casual to eat, do not pick and choose, and change with the seasons. Peck at young grass stems and leaves in spring, insects and plant berries and seeds in summer, plant fruits and seeds in autumn, and grass stems, fruits and grains mainly in winter.

Although it grows large, the ring-necked pheasant is always cautious in its movements. Usually, when the wind blows, they will instinctively press down and sneak, or lie down for a long time. The original escape technique has only one, "the enemy does not move, I do not move".

Ring-necked pheasants have better running ability, but their flight ability is average, especially their endurance is poor, and they often begin to land shortly after take-off, similar to "parabolic" flight. If you are continuously pursued by predators in an open area, you will even exhaust your physical strength due to too many flights, and finally you will be too tired to walk and tie your hands.

Ring-necked pheasants practice polygamy, with males fighting each other to gain mating rights with females. It's no wonder that male birds are so good-looking, after all, it is difficult to stand out in the fierce competition.

Their "sense of position" is particularly strong, and if the male finds that other competitors have broken in, the two males will fight fiercely until the other side is driven away.

In Hunan, the ring-necked pheasant belongs to the local key protected wild animals of Hunan Province and the national "three haves" animals, and the hunting and trafficking of wild individuals is prohibited.
